    RT Pro firing problems.

    okay, here's the long:

I was interested in shortening the on/off pin on my Automag RT Pro, with an X-Valve STOCK from the factory. (I.E. Aside from oiling, I have -NEVER- touched the internals, the X-valve was installed before the gun was shipped to the store.) All parts inside the valve, as well as the length of the trigger rod, were stock.

I brought it up to my local shop, where we measured the length of the on/off Pin, it was ~.751! (As opposed to the ~.765 that is standard on an RT Pro.) They replaced it with the longest they had, a .758, and we gave it a shot, it seemed to have problems leaking down the barrel. They suggested oiling it and trying it out, to see if that fixed the problem.

I just finished oiling the internals per their instructions, and it is still not only leaking down the barrel, but now there are times where the firing pin will reset BUT when the trigger is pulled again the marker will not fire.

Any ideas? I'm taking it back up to the shop this weekend, but If I could just fix it myself, that would be preferred.

Thank you very much in advance.

On stock x-valves you need to tune the lvl10 to your marker.

I'm aware that the Level 10 has to be fine tuned to some extent. However, the way it is acting leads me to believe that the problem in somewhere else in the gun. For that matter, the level 10 is more or less tuned perfectly, I know that for a fact.

      -UPDATE-
Okay, FrAuStY on #automags gave me a couple tips, He had me change LX Carrier and O-Rings... The barrel leakage has stopped, but the gun still will not fire more than a couple of shots at a time. If I try turning up the velocity... it will fire once or twice, stop, turn up, fire once or twice, until the valve is literally trying to blow my wrench into my face.

Half a Bump, Half an update.

So I tried the LIGHTEST mainspring... and it fired a few shots... I was out of air. I headed up to the shop, Filled up the tank. Took it home, gassed it up, and it goes runaway, or just doesn't fire. I degassed it... tried tightening the level 10 back up, no runaway, but still has firing problems. Changed it back to where it was running away, And it doesn't runaway any more... but it's still firing sporadically.

I used up a whole tank of air trying to get it to work... and honestly, I'm starting to get just a tiny bit disheartened... BUT, Good Customer service isn't so much about never having problems, but how problems are handled when they occour.

So on that note, I'm going to take it up to the shop I bought it from on monday, and drop it off for service... My question being, do you guys have any other ideas before I give up? I've tried almost every level 10 Carrier, am using my lightest mainspring, and even with the reg about to / blowing off, it's still not firing all the time.

I am sorry this may be too obvious to ask but did you ever try your original pin again?

That's actually a good question, and the answer is 'not yet.' Because I took it up to the shop, they had to -swap- the pin. I don't think they're too keen on putting that one back in, however, because it is SO short.

In any event, when I go up to the store, I'll see if they have the pin there and try it.

If not, or if it doesn't work, it goes into their hands.

            Thank you for your help.
