    Question about filling Nitro

I was considering getting my own scuba tank so that I can fill up my nitro.

    I was wondering:

    1) Many of the tanks I see on ebay are about 100 cubic feet and are 3000psi. If the nitro tank on my gun is 3000psi, how many fills could I get out of the scuba tank before the pressure drops significantly?

    2) I heard somewhere that a compressor is used to boost the pressure up to what ever pressure is needed? Is the the case, or is there some other method to filling?

    3) If a compressor is used to boost pressure, can I just simply use a compressor to fill my tank???

    Thanx for any help

Not sure about how many fills, but obviously a 3K tank will decrease practically with every fill for a 3K fill. Maybe look for a 4500 psi tank to fill from instead.

Yes, they do use compressors to fill HPA tanks to max PSI's. They cost a lot though! They also can fill higher PSI by using back pressure from another tank, but that takes longer to fill.

No, you cannot use just any comspressor. The common compressor like in a garage only puts out a few hundred PSI.

I'm not the one stop HPA guru but that is what I know anyway :) I'm sure others here can give you more info.

I've been looking into this as well, considering I don't like taking my 45 and 47ci tanks in to the shop so they can charge me $3 each to "fill them" (I put that in quotes because I never get a full fill; for a 4500 I usually only get like AT MOST 3500 or so), much less go to a field where they charge for air.

Normal HPA compressor/boosters cost at least $850, so that's out. However... Have you guys seen those hand pumps that they use for the PCP guns? I've been looking at something called an "FX Super Stroke" pump. Evidently, you can get something like 3500 PSI out of it. I don't know how much pumping you'll have to do to fill say a 45ci tank like mine, but I figure for messing around at home or topping off a crappy field fill, it will probably be OK.

Just need to find the proper fittings, and a way to hook up a rechargeable dessicant canister to the input...

        Definitely not on the A-Team.

From that, I can get 6-8 fills above 2000psi. Additionally, if I fill my CF gun tank to only 2000psi, that will allow me to shoot approx 3-4 hoopers of paint before the gun stops firing (I have my output set at 800psi on the gun tank). For me, that's plenty for a LONG game, as I typically am not trigger happy.
