I am interested in the y-grip, but have questions about how they are with drop forwards, considering the different angle. If anyone has any experience with this let me know.

well, no experience with a y-grip... but I have with a z-grip... drop with a forward angle is kinda funny. You want a shorter drop with a y or z grip... maybe no drop at all.

A drop on a y grip is needed for comfort, IMO atleast, because if not the fill nipples and guages on your tank (or atleast screw in ones) will be hitting on your wrist which is not very comfortable IMO.
I like a drop on my Y.

I use a Shocktech Medium drop on my y-frame... i love it, it just barely avoids my foregrip, its a very tight setup. but it all depends on your drop, and your foregrip, some combinations work. Others dont.
