im doing it at a dive shop cause it's closer and cheaper. I just want to know if i should tighten it back up with my hands or a wrench and rag. Im planning on using a couple drops of red locktight at the very bottom

i've had this arguement with people here before, but im gunna give my opinion again....

as a PTI trained Master Air Tech, I say that you put one ring of RED (242) Loctite on the reg screws. The only thing that matters about where is that it is BELOW the vent hole in the threads. (if the reg starts to unscrew, you want it to vent pressure).

I know some here will tell you to NOT put loctite on, however, that is what I was trained to do (by Bob McGuire of all people) and that is what I did at the field, and never had a problem

Im sorry you had to listen to worthwhile information. I know you youngins attention span isnt that high...

use 15 ft-pounds of torque to secure the tank to the bottle...so YES, use a wrench

AGD spec for Flatline reg. torque is 25 ft-lbs.

Use a small nylon strap wrench on the reg. to put it back on. I doubt you have the special tool required to torque the reg., so just get it tight with a strap wrench and it will be fine.

I will never recommend putting any kind of loctite on regulator threads. Go to a SCUBA shop and tell them that you're going to put red loctite on your reg. threads and they'll most likely laugh at you.

For screw-in tanks, they might need a dab of blue loctite, but otherwise just some oil on the reg. body o-ring is all you need. Once there's pressure in the system, it locks it in place.
