    E-Mag/X-Mag Battery/Charger Problems

Hey i am having a lot of problems with my X-Mag battery. First of all i need to plug it into a car adapter...i can't leave a car running for 6 hours.

so then i use other adapters. keyboard, massaging chair, speakers, etc. They don't work.

then i'm like fine i'll charge it up in the car. now the car adapter doesn't work.

i bring it back inside and try to use another adapter. now the charger doesn't work.

so i physically take it to the AGD building. They told me:

The charger is bad and the adapter is bad. But they weren't sure about the battery so they told me to go charge it up and use it.

they replaced the charger and the adapter.

i charge it up in the car on my way home...but i can't fully because i live 20 minutes away from AGD. so i call up AGD and ask them if there is anyway i can charge this in my house. they told me to go to radioshack and get specific parts.

i go to radioshack and get the exact parts (model number/brand/etc). which cost me $20. then i come home plug it in and charge it with the new charger and the wall charger.

1 hour later it sais it is charged... i'm like...ok so i put it on my x-mag and the thing doesn't work in electronic mode. i put it back on the charger and it sais it isn't charged. i smell something burning... there is smoke comming out of my charger.

    i'm like....that can't be good.

and so i ask you for help.

Just a couple of thoughts on EMag batteries in general:

    1. The only time the battery "should" go bad, is if it overheats. (Smoke is never good.)

    2. The RadioShack AC-DC converter works well for charing the EMag battery.

    3. The EMag battery has such a small load that it won't hurt to leave it charging in your car while the car is off. (My cigartte lighter adapter still gets power with the key off.)

    4. When fully changed the EMag battery should read ~18V DC. If you're battery has gone through a complete charge period, you should be able to measure the voltage with a multimeter.

Start by measuring the battery's votlage and you'll know right away if its your culprit. If not, you may have board problem. Does the EMag read out display 'Lo Batt' when you plug your battery in? Can you cycle through your menus with your battery plugged in?
    My feedback.
