Gadget might be talking about about certain macroline fittings that come precoated with some sort of reddish coating on the threads. It's soft and "can" be scraped off, and works well in most cases. If you put Loctite on that stuff, it might not seal well. Teflon, if needed, can be placed on it. 2 winds of teflon should be more than enough if you have the coating on it. If not blue Loctite is always good. Purple is best, but I believe it's more expensive since it contains primers.

NEVER NEVER NEVER USE TEFLON ON A PAINTBALL GUN!!! its the devil on internals, if you feel the need to have teflon on your gun, the only place i would even consider putting it would be on macroline fittings, but even still i'd rather use blue loctite, or red if you really don't want the fittings to come off without applying heat, don't use green, you won't ever get your fittings off. also wait at least 12 hours after applying loctite before gassing up you gun so it can dry.

to seal
If you want to seal your threads from air leaks...Just use the teflon tape. Look I have been doing this for quite sometime. Now all of a sudden people are trying to say that teflon tape is "the devil on internals" Look if you are careful with what you are doing and clean up your work as you go you should never have a problem using teflon tape as a sealer.
Locktite is used to aid in "Locking" a nut or screw in place. The colors are for how strong a "Lock". Now, I do know that there is a sealing solution wich is used by most companys that make Micro and Macro and some SS fittings to coat there threads. What ever it is, it is not red locktite.
Stick with teflon tape...Simple, easy to install and remove, and does the job.

Gotta agree with Gadget. As long as you don't hang the teflon tape over the end of the threading, I just don't think you'll have a problem. I've heard "teflon tape ruins your gaskets...etc...etc" for years, but if that were true then why do so many paintball manufacturers use it themselves? Been playing, and using teflon tape for 10 years on everything from shockers to pump guns and never had a problem. Of course, I try to use it correctly. If someone wraps the whole end of a fitting with it, then they get what they deserve.

Teflon Tape
Gadget is right. Teflon is for sealing. I had to search for this to answer some questions on IOG a while back....
I use tape only. Although I'm not saying it's the only product. I found this to help dispell myths. It directly applies to research equipment, but.....that equipment is very similar to our uses. If it's good enuf for million $ hpa machines, then it's good enuf for my Rat/Mag... You just have to apply it with common sense. A trick I use is to wrap it clockwise (looking at the end of the threads) so that it won't 'unwrap' as you thread it in.

6.D.2.2 Assembly and Operation
".... Thread connections must match; tapered pipe threads cannot be joined with parallel machine threads. Teflon tape or a suitable thread lubricant should be used when assembling the apparatus (see section 6.D.2.2.6). However, oil or lubricant must never be used on any equipment that will be used with oxygen. "
6.D.2.2.6 Teflon Tape Applications
"Teflon tape should be used on tapered pipe thread where the seal is formed in the thread area. "
