Good Barrel? Tom's Barrel Article. HLP TOM

Hey everyone, I read Tom Kaye's article on barrels with porting and effective barrel length: http://www.automags.org/resource/tec...rrel_eff.shtmlI am asking for some imput on a good barrel to buy for a ULE RT Mag. What is a good cocker barrel if most barrels have porting half way down the barrel? I was thinking a good barrel would be like 10" or 12" with 2" of it ported. I do like 8-12inch barrels and I'm looking for a barrel that fires accuratly with the right paint match. (Please don't give me a lecture on how the barrel has nothing to do with accuracy just the paint/barrel match [Unless your Tom Kaye]).

Please don't post unless you are very knoledgable about barrels or have had experience with many different kinds. Mr. Kaye, your imput would be extremely apprieciated.
    I'll never grow up...

just get a barrel that is for you...all barrel are basically the same...long ones with porting = quiter, short ones=louder but less air needed to push ball out of barrel...

...you should be askng "whats the best paint to use"...and i would say fresh paint...that is NOT "seconds"...

why would you ask Tom? only reason is that he has been playing a long time...

maybe you should ask companies that make barrels....well more than 3 kinds, no offence AGD
    Alias Intimidator (Black)
    DiRtY PiCs... ;)

    I throw bombs...well not really...

ok well then what kind of paint do you think I shold use with a DYE Boomstick? I just got Blaze for it and haven't yet used it. When I put it in the barrel to match it up it seem like a good fit because the first stainless steel part has a smaller bore size than the alluminum part. I was able to blow on the barrel and have the paintball fly out. When I put the paintball at the alluminum half, it could just role right out the barrel.

Does this mean the barrel is poorly designed or do I need different paint? Remember, the first stainless steel half of the boomstick seemed to fit the Blaze paintball perfectly and the second half it roled out. Why does the barrel's bore size change?

No, this does not mean the barrel is poorly designed. The back peice is a smaller bore because that is where the paintball accelerates, the first 6-8 inches of the barrel. If blaze matches the back peice well, then use it. Do you have the barrel yet or have you just tested it? If you don't have it, I would advise against a boomy. Get an ultralight instead. Same quality, accuracy and performance, it's lighter and it costs less. Boomy-$110+ ... Ultralight- $70-89 They both perform the same. Granted, stainless steel is more durable than aluminum, but who puts that much wear on the barrel that it'd matter?

Try a CP barrel. They dont have to much porting and they shoot very nice. Get the two pieace and get a couple backs so you can adjust. In my experience the .689 CP back is to large for blaze so the next smaller size should works.

get a longbow barrel system or a freak. I run a freak on my emag and it is always consistently accurate. You will never have a situation where your paint doesnt fit. The longbow is really good too but it's even more expensive...
