    Regulators and Operating Pressures

Hopefully in the near future I plan on purchasing a Minimag, and I need to plan out my purchases. Now I have done some research and know that the input pressure is 800psi, does it help me to buy a regulator such as a Palmer Stabilizer, or can I simply buy a preset tank and gas through grip and be done with it. I ask because I have to spend money wisely, and buy parts over time. Thanks.

p.s. I have experience with regulators and CO2, along with N2, just not so much experience specifically with Mags. For comparison I have knowledge of Tippmanns, Cockers, Blazers, most pump guns, etc. and no I don't own one of each, I'm just the technically minded person amongst those I play with.

    Welcome to AO.

Mags generally don't need a secondary regulator. The only real time that rule is broken is if you run CO2. With HPA, you run the risk of starving the gun. (Tank is one regulator, gun is another.)

Save yourself the $ and just buy a preset tank (800-850) and you're set. If you buy an adjustable tank, you will be able to control the reactivity on the Xvalve/ReTro series of valves.
