Ok, you went to take out the co2 tank right? I think it is normal if you have no on-off for gas to come out. The pop was probably the release of alot of pressure or your o-ring breaking.

Where is it comming out of? If its by the tank threads-asa just unscrew the tank faster or somthing. Or am I wrong? Someone else?

first of all, you are more than likely getting liquid into the gun. liquid co2 produces alot more gas than just gaseous co2 by itself. so, it will tkae longer to vent it all off. doo you have an x-chamber? sometimes those can hold alot of liquid co2 in them.

a better way to take your tank off is this: unscrew it about 1/2 turn. there should not be any gas leaking out of the ASA at this point. now shoot the gun until all the gas in the lines are gone. then unscrew the tank the rest of the way. you wont hurt the tank o-ring and you wont have any co2 rushing out of the ASA.

              anti-siphon tank?

if not, I bet it is just liquid getting into the x-chamber. One of the guys in our club can hold about 30 shots in his x-chamber.
