    Electronic Z-grips

I am one of the psychotic people who are in love with the Z-grips. The question is: If I buy intelligrips can I take the guts out and modify my Z-grips to use intellifeed? Also, if I buy an LCD electronic mag grip set, then can I gut those grips, and machine my Z-grips into taking the electronics? If these are possible, then can I mod my Z-grips to take the intellifeed AND the LCD stuff, basically machine and create a pair of e-mag style Z-grips. I want to know if this is possible, and if it is, I am open to suggestions.

If you mean intelliframe by intelligrips, then no. The intelliframe has a mount for a microswitch machined into it. However, a switch can be installed in the z-grip for an intellifeed. If you look at the top of the frame, will see the big grove that the sear and trigger rod go in whcn it is put together. Since the trigger rod never reaches the back of that slot, you can put a switch in so that the sear hits it every time the trigger is pulled back.
You could not gut an electro frame and put it in a z-grip at all.

Actually... Kayle and I are toying with this idea. Will post something as soon as we have some pics and such.

Till then, here's some pics of an RT body on an emag. Another bright idea we came up with. Now all it needs is the Z-Grip.

Yeah thats the post, i did it, pretty neat. I broke my microswitch though, and need to replace it.

I think you could make an e-z-grip work the same way Hyperframe works. Lose the trigger rod and replace it with a solenoid which pushes the sear in the same direction as the rod would push. You can see good pictures in the Warpig Hyperframe test article or from the Centerflag site.

You would have to do major mill work on the z-grip, you would have trouble fitting everything in, especially at that angel.

Since we are working with standard parts and basic milling machines... I was considering using a small project box mounted to the warp bracket to house the board for now. Then all that needs to fit in the grip is the solenoid and hall effect sensor.

We also toyed with the idea of using opposing magnets for trigger return.
