    Rail Material

I wanted to lighten my RTPro and was considering to mill out the extra meaty parts of my rail.

Basicly my idea is to carfully mill out only the sections that arent around anything that needs suport (like the sear). I was thinking that i should lob off the last inch or two where the valve sits since the valve really doesnt need to be secured by the little "z" shaped cut in the rail body and is mainly held in by the fielf strip screw.

    1) is the body material aluminum or stainless steel? i do believe that aluminum is easier to mill????

    2) how deep can i go without compromising the rail's rigidity? i plan to later on drill a hole to run a vertical grip and dont want to take off too much from the rail and cause the vertical adaptor screw to rip through the rail during hard play.

    3) how can you tell what the diameter of your carriers are? i know the line means that it is a certain diameter and the dots mean another, so that carrier diameter is the addition of the combination?

    Thanx
