this will be my first gun and im considering getting the RT Pro....Is there alot of mainteneace involved? you think its alittle out of my league? One concern i do have is they say the gun is heavy, how true is this? if so what can i do to lighten it? What size tank should i go with:88ci 4500 psi? or is that too much? Also the cheapest i found the marker for is $538.77 w/free shipping. Is that a good price? does anyone know where i can get it for cheaper? thanks for your help guys
Should i get an RT pro

Welcome to AO!
Quite a first gun to be getting there (I started with a lowly Spyder).
The RT Pro is a fine gun and should be more than you will ever need, or until your tastes change (which happens).
1- the maintenance of the RT is very minimal. Some people play with them game after game and just wipe them down and add some oil now and then. I tend to be a bit anal and clean the whole thing over an hour. That's just me.
2-Out of your league? no just a bit of money to spend on your first gun. Looking back on my paintball experience, I would have been better buying an RT off the bat but I did not know how much I would like the sport. As long as you are sure you really like the spot, I would go for it!
3- weight? The RT's used to come with all steel components but as markers are moving to light weight and fast, AGD had changed all that and now makes RT Pros in all aluminum components. Now be forewarned that there are a lot of older Steel component RT's out there and many companies are not shipping these new lighter ones yet. Basically you will need to call whoever you are looking at buying from and see what they sell their guns as. Even so, if you got a steel on and did not like the weight you can always buy the ULE bodies and X-Valve for your RT. You an see mine if you click on my sig link.
4- tank size? depends on how much you shoot, or think you will shoot. I shoot a LOT of paint and thus I wanted a larger tank for my needs. I use a 88ci 4500 Max Flow and it doe a great job. When full I can get about 1600 rounds out of it. If you don't think you need that kind of volume, you might get a 68ci and have a smaller profile. I would not recommend anything smaller than a 68ci tank as the RT is not amazing on efficiency (just my opinion though).
5- Price. $533 is not bad for a marker new if it comes with some/all the aluminum parts but you can buy the RT's used off eBay and this forum for anywhere around $280-400 depending on what they have on them. In my opinion, buying a used one saved you a lot of money that you can then put towards upgrades. Best of all, AGD gives you 1 free return of the gun to their factory for a rebuild and tune up free of charge so if its all beat up, they will fix it (but check to see if the old owner used his up). I may be wasting my breath in saying this but, if not listen up. If you have never done any eBay or forum buying, GO SLOW and CHECK the buyers feedback/ rating/ info. Get in contact with them and discuss it and COVER your bases. 99% of the guys here are real nice and trying to sell their stuff, but it only takes 1 guy to ruin it for you. Don't just send off money blindly.
6- hopper. Again, depends on your shooting style. I would recommend for ANYONE some form of agitated hopper. a simple view loader (be careful, weak feed necks that snap) or empire reloader, but something that moves those balls so they don't jam. If you think you will be shooting faster than say 13-14 balls per second much of the time, you might consider an EggII or better, a Halo B. Again you have to decided and then ask what brands are good or bad.
Good luck in your decision either way and enjoy AO here.Comment

wow...thanks for the reply!!! excellent job!!!this is the site i plan on getting the gun would be safe to assume this would be one of the newer guns w/ the aluminum cause in the pic it shows the gun as having the double trigger(which i believe is new for 03) http://store.yahoo.com/actionvillage...tomag-pro.html
one more thing im right handed...which would be the correct side feeder to get (right or left) whats the advantage to them over a center feeder?Comment

Upgrading to the X valve isn't a cheap upgrade. I would definatly call them and make sure I was getting the X valve and not the old Rt-Pro valve. Right handed people usually want a hopper left, or a vertical feed. If you plan on running a warp then you want a hopper right, or a warp body.

thos picts are of the older steel bodies. here is what myine looks like. the body is called the ULE body and the valve is an aluminum valve called the Xvalve.
None the less I would call Action Villagea nd have them tell you what they have.
Feed neck choices? I personally like the vertical feed of the ULE bodies (those Steel ones int he picts are kinda tall). There is not really any difference and I would go which what you want in that case.Comment

hehe I figured with over 3000 posts you would own 3-4 Mags. Seems like the trend around here...Originally posted by PyRo
The new Stock RT pro comes with all that (minus to drop and tank)? Thats sweet, need to find myself a job.Comment

That particular RT Pro in the pict was a prodject of mine. I bought an older RT Pro off eBay for about $280 and put all the ULE stuff on it. The Barrel, dropfarward, tank and loader all are not things that come with the gun.
I hear that currently the RT Pros ship with intilliframes, and Xvlaves, but not with ULE bodies. I won't swear to that though and again you should just check with Action Vilage by calling them.Comment

Check out the classifieds forum. Cphilip is selling a ULE bodied RTP with Intelliframe (double fingered frame), Xvalve and ULT kit in the dealers forum. PM him for a price, but I think he is selling for $599.
He is a moderator and a trusted member of this forum. And his markers are brand new and include and the hot upgrades.
BTW, ULE vert fed RTP's are the way to go. I have one myself with the Xvalve and an ULT kit and the marker is amazing. Of course it cost me $1400 to upgrade it to the point I have it whereas you can get it to your door already upgraded up to its gills for less than 1/2 what I spent.
Welcome to the AO family. And although I only have 500+ posts, I DO have 4 mags...

wow if that is the case I would grab that! I too spent about $1300 on all my stuff to ULE it all and if you can get that for around $600 GRAB IT! the guy is a moderator and is 100% legit.
Edit: only thing that you may like / not like about that RT Pro is that you will not have a reactive trigger if you use the ULTrigger. Just an FYIComment
