Mag going crazy with ULTand LX

Heres the basic idea of my setup beore I start up about my problems.
Mag
X-Valve
Intelliframe
LX
ULT
68/3k flaline


Bleh. Before I bought the ULT my mag it worked almost flawlessly. But now for some reason after I installed my ULT (5 shims) I still get crazy chuff chuffing and now for some reason the LX isn't working right. Or the ball breaks may not be chopping but just chuffs still in the barrel, but when I chuff it doesnt usually get a ball stuck in the middle of the barrel. Actially...I dont know what happens to those chuffed balls. A few go out of the barrel slowly and who knows where all the others go.

But I dont think its supposed to chuff, right? I mean with 5 shims in the ULT W/ X-valve I think it shouldnt do that, but I'll probably be proved wrong.

Also I have another minor problem. I had my marker pressurized with about 2k psi wtill left in the tank. Well I forgot to shut off the valve so I go look the next day and all the air had leaked out somehow. ANy ideas on what might be the problem here? Thanks.

I had a wonderful marker until I installed ULT as well. I messed with it today and think I solved a few issues.
You need to address each issue individually. Heres what I had and did.

My Old set-up
X-valve/I-Frame
LX with 1.0 carrier/2 shims/middle spring
ULT with 5 ULT shims


After short stroking the trigger I would get a double feed and ball break. I would also get some bolt stick after a long string and the bolt would not reset. putting my finger in the breech and firing made my finger hurt.

First - I drop down a carrier size to slow the bolt down.

Second - Change the middle spring to the longest springto get the bolt to reset fully.

Adding shims to the LX did not solve my bolt stick problems.

Third - Added a LX shim to the ULT and took out a ULT shim so a total of 4 ULT and 1 LX shims(2ULT = 1LX). Fire a few more rounds and everything feels good. When I short stroke the bolt will reset and I can continue.

My New set-up
X-Valve/I-Frame
LX with .5 carrier/2 shims/Longest spring
ULT with 4 ULT shims and 1 LX shim

I forgot to mention my LX is running at a 0 carrier, short spring, and 2 shims.

You guys may be going about this all wrong. It has been my experience that the marker must be returned to a fully working "Stock" state, then gradually tuning up from there in very small increments. Dont forget to measure all pertinent parts. Blow out all air passages too while you have it apart...you wold not believe the chunks of stuff I have seen fly out. This allieviates alot of the guesswork in real world tuning. Start with the smallest spring...and least amount of shims and work up from there. Seems to work good.

My Level 10 and x-valve were working fine. I put a case thru it this past weekend with maybe 2 chops. When I installed the ULT is when everything started.

Yep. Same here. Now if I go back to my regular on/off I get double firing.
