    Making your own charger?

When i traded my cocker for my e mag, i got a home made battery charger with it. It always worked fine, and everything was made from radioshack parts. Thing is,I don't know how the kid made it, and I left it in the hotel room at our last tourny Anyone know what partts I need, and directions on doing it again?

look up battery changers at radio shack. they should have little "junior engineer" books there. you want to make a charger than will charge an 18V bettery. 24 should work nicely. jsut make sure you have a limiting resistor, so it doesn't charge too fast.

you can also, just buy one from AGD.

Well, what do you think is going to cost me more, making my own, or buying one for 80 bucks?

that depends. you will need a voltage reg ($3) and tranformer ($20-40), case ($10), various filtering caps, wires and a diode bridge ($10-15) plus if you want to charge a ni-cad or NiMh batt, you should really trickle an ac pulse on your DC level. they will cause the least amount of harm to the battery.

let me ask this? how much is a new emag batt if you do it wrong and melt it?

(also, if you dont know what those parts are that I listed, this may not be for you)

so the $50 to biuld a charger and maybe damage the battery, is really not worth saving $30.(difference between making it yourself and buying one.)

to bad the emag batt is not 12V, would make this SOOO easy. oh well.

I think dayspring was just showig you how much a new batt would be if you damaged the one you have.

the only other thing I can suggest is ebay. do a search for "18V charger" you might get lucky and find a used 18V batt charger cheap. it doesn't have to be an "emag" charger, obviously. jsut a batt charger designed for ni-cad/ni-Mhy.
