New to the retro valve. Operating pressure...

    hey

I have just stepped up from the classic valve to a retro valve w/ lvl 10. I am planning on running it on CompAir.

I have a few questions before I crank it up.

    1) Can I use a 4500psi tank filled right up or do I need to get a 3000psi tank?

    2) What is the best operating pressure for the retro valve? I have a max flo vertical to control it

    3) anything else I need/should know please fill me in.

Im looking forward to letting this baby rip!

    You can use either tank.

    600-800 psi is fine.

You don't need or should use an extra regulator.

    Have fun!

so the retro valve can handle up to 4500psi tank? I ask 'cos I know the classic valve could only handle up to 3000psi

And whats wrong with running the max flo vert on my mag? I thought I would get better consistancy

The rating is the pressure that the valve can have inside of it. All AGD guns can use 4500psi tanks. If there was a 10,000psi system, the AGD valves could handle it, as long as the output pressure was still around 800psi. The rating on the valve is for the output pressure, not the tank pressure.

Mags don't work like most all other guns. You don't need a front regulator because the valve itself is a regulator. That 800psi going into the gun is regulated down to about 475psi, which is then used to fire the ball and goes through a volumetric expansion process to where the pressure behind the ball is 60psi.

so can run my ACI Bulldog 3 68/4500psi tank straight into the valve and it will be consistant?

What kinda varience (cant spell too well - its 2:45am where I live) could/should I expect then?

Yes, the Bulldog tank will work as long as it is a high output tank. As a general rule of thumb, a high output is a tank that is around 800psi or higher. A low output tank is around 450psi or lower.
Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.

What kinda varience (cant spell too well - its 2:45am where I live) could/should I expect in the fps with 800psi running straight into the valve?

Are we talking 3 fps +/- or 9 fps +/-?

+/- 3fps with a good clean valve and shooting high quality paint out of a good barrel.

the retro valve I have coming is second hand and 'apparenttly' in very good condition. And we have to shoot field paint, and you know what that can be like at times.

SO what the hell am I gonna do with this max flo vert reg now???
