bear with me.....03shocker vs. x mag.

I posted this on IOG (impulse owners group) to see if i could get any justification -apart from personal pref.- as to which marker was of better design, build, etc. I could get no satisfaction. So I post the same question here...
    shocker03 vs x mag and why7
Personaly the answer is clear. The main thrust of this post is to provide some research for a friend who is unsure. When he asked me, i done told him that that any mag was worth its wieght in gold. Apart from my own experience and very spars tech. knowlege i could provide no sound argument against the shocker....im hopping as a collective we can.

Well I have shot both, own an sfl same as xmag really.

The shocker is really nice for the price, you can find some for under 900 with a 68/4500 maxflo(used- new for under 1000 i'm sure) ... I would take one in a heart beat if I didn't have my sfl. Both the xmag and the shocker dont have really good air efficiency, the shocker is lighter then the xmag... I guess it really comes down to which one you like better, If he can try to shoot an x and shoot a shocker.... I think they are both great markers.

Both markers work differently however both designs are pretty good.

I would go for the better cheaper marker since the xmag is really just to have a limited edition emag...

Level 10 alone would make me pick the Xmag, unless of course I came across a good deal on the Shocker. I've never shot one, but if it can definately let me leave my squeegee in the car all day then the choice might come down to price and availability.

        Which One?????

Good Day, I have had the rare opportunity to shoot both. First, I have an X-Mag and I shot a Shocker 03' at my local field last weekend.
Two things to consider; 1) performance and 2) price and availability .
        With no scientific imperical data I see the X-Mag as better. Reasons are this;
        1) With old software, AGD 2.4, I am very close to walking as fast as a 03 Shocker. I know I just stated almost as fast; One the new AGD 3.0 software will fix my walking speed to be quicker due to no missed shots but second, the most important reason is the properly set up LvL X bolt. I don't chop with that in my X-Mag when on Hybrid (No ACE) or in electric (With ACE).
The fine gentlemen who had the Shocker was out more than one game because once he broke a paintball inside by his vision eye, the eye no longer worked properly and interupted his fire and he had to continually clean his marker. Now with this information I believe he could have turned down his LPR to ensure pinching of a paintball instead of a chop. Remember, he chopped because I believe he was very close to outrunning a Halo B, yes...a Halo B. I could be wrong about that however, but if a hopper can't keep up and you chop you are still useless on the field. Additionally I get very close to outrunning my Halo B and Warp at times too.
The overall performance of both markers is very impressive however, the modular design of the X-Mag, hybrid and electric modes with ACE and LvL X are hard to beat. The Shocker's Eye let the owner down and still chopped. I'm sure once you set the Shocker up correctly it is a beast.
        2) Now on to the availability and price: X-Mag is very limited and unless you want to wait 6-8 months for an X-Mag or you find one for sale in a forum then you are out of luck(unless you make a ULE E-Mag(about the same price for the same setup as a Shocker)).
The Shocker is more readily available and can be bought with air and Barrel for about a little more than a new X-Mag.
Conclusion, So how can I say that the X-Mag is better!!! One My preference is for Mags, it suits me and I'm very comfortable with it and two, I played all day with no down time for paint in my marker while my fellow player watched from the sidelines for 4 to 5 games.

Go with the Marker you are most comfortable with but definitely shoot both markers prior to your decision to buy. Good Luck

I see problems with a 03 shocker. I see perfection at the sight of a x mag.

shockers have BIG problems with O-rings due to the use of a shuttle valve. Also, they are not nearly as easy to rebuild should you need to in a hurry. you could tear down an X-mag valve in no time.

Another big bonus with the X:

Carry a spare X-valve and sear, and you will NEVER need a backup. with the Manual mode available, you can shoot the gun if Elec fails, and the spare X valve and sear covers virtually any Mechanical problem.

Try doing that with a shocker...
