    XValve Too Reactive.

Hey Fellas, got a Q for you. Just bought an X-valve last night, and after EXTENSIVE tweaking she finally is working without going chuff chuff on me. I've got the tank pressure set at 550psi and the smallest spring in the LvlX. All this to get Velocity below 300. The Q is, the reactivity is WAY too much for me. I've dialed the pressure down quite a bit in order to get it to the point where it will only fire one shot with each trigger pull but its still too reactive and easy to send into full auto with slight pullback...Any good info on how to adjust this?

Have you tried using the larger springs? They should allow you to bring your pressure up a little. 550 seems a little low and may cause drop off in strings. Oh and I can trade you a classic valve for your X and you won't have to worry about that pesky reactivity!

I agree with Chuck: your input pressure is very low. Try an input of 700psi minimum (low reactivity), up to say 850-900psi (high reactivity). The valves just don't operate well below 700 in most circumstances. It's sounds like you have the carrier set up right...no more leaking down the barrel or chuffing. Try moving up to the medium or long spring. You should be able to run the medium spring without any problems. I rarely run the long spring unless I'm setting up for 290+ fps. With the medium spring, I can dial down to 245 fps and up with very consistant velocity (+/-5fps tops). If you run the long spring, adjust your velocity up until the valve cycles and you should be close to 295fps. Also, as mentioned many times on the board, the springs do break-in. Initially, with the medium spring, velocity would not go down past 255fps. Now I can easily run 245fps (never run that low but can) without any problems.

      FWIW,

Heres a big question though. When i bought the valve, for some reason i thought it'd come with a sear pin. It didn't. I had already sold mine. I went and fabricated a new one and it fits well in there. Does it have to be to AGD specs or will it work fine since all it does is pivot the sear? Oh yeah.....One more thing. Everytime i pull the trigger it fires, everytime i release the trigger, it fires. Any help on this? Tomorrow i'm going to try dialing up the velocity and see where that leads me. But for the most part i get alot of bolt stick when i fire and that sucks.....With the bolt stick, should i change the O-ring carrier? And what way should i go? I'm on a 1 right now, should i go higher in number IE 2,3,4 or down to 0 or .5 or something?

For bolt stick try the next larger carrier w/ the same o-ring you are using now. For you it would be the 1.5, one line and dots. About the homemade sear pin. Sounds odd, firing on pull and release, but there was a frame that did that, autoresponce, but they stopped making them because the rate of fire was so high. I guess if the sear pin were a little smaller in diameter it could allow the sear to bounce a little in it's slot, thus double firing. Some people would like this feature but i would probably go ahead and get an AGD sear pin just to be safe. I'm not 100% but I'm pretty sure excessive sear and/or bolt wear are gonna come from what you got now.
I just reread and noticed that you just bought the valve. If you had a classic valve before they use the same sear pin, just a thought

Your fabricated sear pin is probably causing problems. Get one from AGD and try that. What kind of grip frame are you using and is your rail a stock AGD rail?

Yeah they use the same sear pin. I went ahead and ordered a new sear pin and in case it was my on/off i ordered a new Xvalve on/off. Finally got the bolt working like i want it kindof. But I've got to add shims to get the bolt to retract once it stops on the swab. The whole double fire thing to me isn't cool. Using an Intelli btw, so no autoresponse frame here. Not a stock rail either, just picked up and omega rail and am using that. At least the new pin will come in before i paintball next so that way it'll give me time to work on it and see what i can get going.

Yeah but its too fast.....The velocity sucks when i do that.....Try chrono'ing it too...Click...hold...278...Release....106 or 310...not alot of fun. But yeah when i let her rip...God she goes like crazy. Was funny to see the guys with the e-cockers and the angel guys looking at me like wow. Haha my gun didn't work all day long except in little spurts but One guy with an angel who was team capt picked me first saying "Dude i want that mag on my team because if it works i don't want it against me." But all the problems i had yesterday seem to be gone except the autoresponse still exists....guess i'll live with that untill i get the new searpin and on/off.

Yeah, if the second shot has much of a difference in velocity than the first they are pretty much a waste. Please post your results when you get the new parts. I'm interested to see if the sear was the problem.

                      your mag sucks, man!
                      haha

                      oh, did i tell you?
i weighed your mag against a phantom and
yours was lighter! of course, you still need
a tank and a hopper. but still.. i couldnt believe
it was lighter than a pump! how cool is that!

Alright got the new On/off pin today as well as a new sear. Going to get some Air tonight so hopefully will be able to tell if its the On/off or the sear(going to replace each seperately.) I'll post results later on. Heh this would be cool if all it took for an autoresponse trigger is just a home made sear pin.
