discouraging info about ule bodies and x valve

I have purchased, or in the process of, a few items for my minimag rebuild. I talked to my local pro shop about his opinions about some of the upcoming parts I am going to get and got some upsetting news. He said that a player brought his mag in with a ule body to get a xvalve put in. But the valve did not work with the ule body?! He then told me that they had to send the entire marker to agd to install the xvalve correctly. Is this a strange occurance or a known issue? I plan on getting a xvalve very soon, and then the ule body to follow soon after. As everyone knows I am not techinically inclined on mags yet, so I do not want to run into problems like this. Thanks for any help.

Uh yeah... I have no idea what sort of problems they ran into, but let me assure you that there is absolutely no problem with the ULE body and the X valve working together. There are plenty of us here on AO who have such a setup and this is the first I've heard of any problems. You really don't have to worry about parts made by AGD not working together unless they specifically tell you they won't (i.e. ULT kit and classic valve). There are a lot of people in "local pro shops" who really don't seem to have a clue waht they are talking about, or they let their prejudices influence what they tell customers.

    X valve + ULE body = goodness!

Was it a mechanical mag or an E-mag? If it was an E-mag, the "pro" shop worker may not have realized that you need an E-mag length on/off pin in the X-valve rather than the X's factory pin. This would cause the valve to not work properly in the E-mag. If it was just a mechanical mag, than it's probably the "pro" shop worker, as Eric pointed out.

I'm just confused. "Install" and xvalve? You don't really need to install anything, just stick the valve in place of the old one and go! Unless you have a e-mag, then you just need the other on/off pin.

thanks for the good words guys. it was a minimag, sorry for not stating that earlier. and yes, by saying install i mean just placing hte valve in the slot. they ran into a space issue i believe were something was not machined right. well i hope i have good luck in my minimag rebuild because this will be on my setup. the guy at the shop is not bias either, he owns a few mags. thanks again guys.

or did they install it and it just didn't fire? they probably forgot to crank up the velocity. and my ule and x-vavle fit together just fine. so no worries man, congrats on your upgrades.

thoes mororns probably didnt even bother TRYING to tune the level 10, plus the first thing that any mag needs off the shelf is OIL OIL OIL slather it on the on/off assembly and in the powertube before yuo shoot it

and tune level 10 now that the x-valves are out

the worst thing that could happen would be a small barb on the spring retainer washer (inside the body), which stops the larger level 10 bolt from passing because of very tight tolerances, it happened to me on multiple occasions with my minimag body, but all i had to to was take a rounded file and grind it down, and some 400 grit sandpaper to smooth it out

thanks for the info gentlemen, i can sleep easier now. the xvalve did not fit into the ule, so they did not get to test fire it. i guess either the maching for the ule body or the outside of the x was the problem. the guy at the store was very knowledgable about mags and like i said before he owns a few. i really do not believe he was trying to knock mags, he was just letting me know what happened to one of his customers. I will be ordering my x vavle next month and the ule at the end of december. i would really like to thank everyone in helping me out, especially since i am a mag noob. much appreciation from me to you at automag.org

alright, AGD in the current chaos of everything with money problems and whatnot, probably skipped a bit of quality control with that body, but its all good, AGD is still the best, and will hopefully stay that way W00T!

Also, sometimes if the valve still has air in it, it will push the on/off out a very small amount, but small enough to the point where the valve won't go into the gun all the way. That problem confused the heck outta me for the longest time, but I eventually figured it out.

Actually, I'm not sure if it's air in the valve that pushes the pin out a bit, but there's something that pushes it out, making it so that it won't fit.
