    Cycles Per Second

Has anyone done testing on how many cps a stacked tube blow back marker(spyder/clone) is capable of? I personally do not have the neccessary sound/software equipment to test it for myself so hopefully someone (cough*Tom*cough)has already tested this.

It seems that with a high flow VA, high flow valve, light springs, and a lighter hammer/striker, it will cycle at 40 cps or more but I was hoping for exact numbers.

I was recently in a debate with people who said they can't physically cycle faster than 16 cps, then when we showed them Dragun Empire products they said 20 was the limit. They refuse to believe that their $1400 timmy MROF is lower than that of a spyder(what it's truly capable of, not capped at). Granted I realize this is mostly a petty argument as 20 cps is all that will ever be needed out of a marker, but I get tired of people who rip on blow back designs. I mean, it's kind of funny when they call blow backs undependable when they are one of the simplest designs with almost nothing to actually break on them, but it gets old after a while. I'm sure you mag owners can relate seeing how they too are completely underrated for what they are.

Most stacked tube blow back style guns have heavy hammers which are pushed against a spring loaded valve by a compressed spring. The weight of the bolt and the hammer are the physically limiting factors on the rates of fire for these markers. By lightening these parts you can increase the rate of fire. But, by lightening these parts you also require more consistency in the quality of the machined surfaces and the trueness of the manufactured parts. That's why most inexpensive guns don't have the high rates of fire. If you properly match lighter parts and the proper springs as well as polish the internals of a blowback gun, you would probably achieve amazing results. You could cause jaw dropping awe at your local field.

Another thing to take note of, most guns that cycle at a high rate of fire can't maintain consistency at that rate. The velocity drops off. Just because a gun cycles doesn't mean it will shoot.
Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.
