    RT F/A Issue

    Any help would be appreciated.

I know someone who has an RT Pro with an X-Valve. Right now, he's using the short spring, but wants to use the middle spring so it hits softer. I told him to run oil through the gun first, then switch springs and turn his velocity up. He did that, and when he fired the gun it went on full auto until he let go of the trigger.

He probably chopped his on/off pin when he took the valve out or didn't put it back together correctly.

    My guess is the pin.

Also, check the sear/bolt and make sure it's not chipped.

He did air up his valve once without it being in the body..the on/off assembly flew out...could that have chipped it?

Measure the on/off pin length, it should be .740" - .750"

Check the pin length... I'll bet you dollars to donuts that it's the wrong size now.

Ok. What tool would he have to use to get an accurate measurement?

Hey, I am the person JG2790 was speaking about. I really would like to thank him for all his help.

Anyways, I took my on/off pin to school today to the manufacturing tech room and measured it using a micrometer. Once I got an answer, I asked the instructor to check if it was correct, and he said it was.

                  The pin is .7495

... I had this happen once.

I found, fooling around with the carrier shims a bit might clear things up a bit.

Tighten the field strip screw with an allen wrench.

If tightening the field strip screw as BlackVCG suggested doesn't work, you may have to go to a longer on/off pin. The X-Valve comes with a .750" on/off pin. The stock length for the RT Pro is .765".

Hey, while messing around with my E-Mag today, I came to the same issue of f/a. Does tightening the field strip screw actually fix this issue?

Sometimes that screw being too loose is all that's wrong. On Auto/Minimag valves you can just finger tighten the field strip screw. On RT based valves you have to use an allen wrench to tighten that screw.

All field strip screws I tighten with an allen wrench. Like Gunga said, if it has an RT valve, you need to tighten it with an allen wrench. Don't torque on it, just get it snug with an allen wrench. Almost every time someone brings me a gun that is going run away, a simple tightening of the field strip screw with an allen wrench makes the problem go away.
