Anno Removal

My RT is chrome plated and it is time for it to come off. I would like to send it off but i dont have a lot of cash. does anyone know where is a good and fair place to have it pro. done? Of what should i use if i want to do it myself?

is it actual chrome? If so I believe the only way to really get it off is sanding. If its anno you can use oven cleaner and it will strip anno off....but do it outside cause the fumes will be bad. Do at own risk.

What part is chromed?

The body is stainless steel and can't be stripped.
The rail and grip are aluminum and can be stripped and annodized.

Chrome can be removed by reverse plating. This would do the best job, but sanding is also a consideration. If sanding, jst be careful not to remove too much metal or it will throw the tolerances out of whack.

ALL chrome. it was wild but it is chipping now.

just sand the puppy down, then re-anno it

cant anno the body after stripping chrome cause its not aluminum its stainless steel but can polish it. Best way I found was wet sanding starting at 200 and working to 1000 grit

Re-annoe is out of the question, it's a stainless steel body. You can polish it though, and you can get it powdercoated.

The body is fine, it is the rail and barrels that are the problem.

So you want to atrip down the rail? Lye or oven cleaner will do that. As far as the barrel goes...why would you want to strip a barrel?
