im almost possive, that my mag...

shoots shorter than my cocker. seriously, i just took them both to the field today, a big field. been playing many times on the field, and noticed that down the tapeline, i would consistantly attack this one bunker that people mostly use. so after switching from mag to cocker, i took it to the chrono, and did a "test". sure its not the best way, but hell, i did it. i picked out targets out in the distance, shot both of them, one at a time, and saw that the mag didn't come close to what the cocker was hitting.

    cocker specs:
    99 r.f
    lightning bolt
    ratt 3:16 valve
center flag reg (set at 280psi)
    chronoing calmly around 270-280

    mag specs:
    powerfeed body
    emag retro valve
    lvl 10
    input of 800psi
    chronoing around 280-285

both using a PMI PE 72/45 tank (full)
    diablo blaze
18" boomy and 12" lapco bigshot

so what i belive is the low presure behind the ball that "pushes" it reduces the turbulance. anyone want to prove me wrong?

ahh, going to the field with only 500 balls...i love college.

Unless you are getting some sort of drop off, there is no way that two paintguns, shooting the same velocity are not shooting the same distance. Unless there is some sort of a flatline involved.

This is a 10 year old discussion.
No paintball marker shoots further than any other paintball marker at the same fps unless it puts spin on the paintball. (which usually kills accuracy.)

same barrel (18" boomie and lapco bigshot), same tank, same balls (diablo blaze), same shooter.

i should really make a vid to convince you guys.

I have had the same thing happen to me cept with my tippy and my bro's cocker. Same barrel same paint same shooter same chrono. With the cocker I noticed I had to angle shots up more then with my tippy.

A $10 talon can shoot just as far as a $2000 angel. Assuming they are at the same velocity :)

Next time you try that test put both gun barrels flat against a table top and fire from there, that will insure your not arcing your shots with one of your guns.

There is a perception difference when aiming. Most people aim by looking down the body over the tip of the barrlel. The body style of the cocker is different than the mag. Therefore, when lining up the barrel tip, there is more elevation on the tip of the barrel of the cocker vs the mag. This extra arc will give you more distance.

The real test is done by mounting both guns so that the barrels are held horizontal at the same height. Now when you fire, the arcs should be the same. This will prove that both have the same distance at the same velocity.
Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.

no i didn't mount it on a frame, or anything, just my self. i did arch both guns while firing, but that was only to achive the desired "range". i wasn't being biased with one or the other. it just came out that the mag wouldn't reach as far as the cocker would achive.

oh, btw i've played againsn't people on the field where they would use shockers, and would attain a farther range than I. yes, i would angle my shots, but it wouldn't come close to their bunker.

im not trying to start an argument, just saying what i've ran into.

My head hurts. Make it stop.

                        Follow these directions:

                        1. Remember that no marker shoots further than another at the same velocity w/o a backspin system - despite your incorrect perceptions. Go to step #2.

                        2. Go back to step #1.

                          lol

How many times have I seen people trying to prove that any paintballgun going at the same fps with the same barrel will go the same distance as the other. ITS AN OLDIE! And yes its your imagination. unless you have a vid and show it to us your not making us believe it.

Its called turning up your velocity on the field, lots of people do it. That explains why some people have more range. They cheat

probably. i've noticed the new generations doing so, not all, but some.
