    Automag versus Spyder

When you upgrade either gun with an electric trigger, so the rate of fire is generall around the same. And you give them both nice barrels. Is there much difference besides the cost (about 150 bucks)?

about the only difference is dependablity, its reall hard to crack up a mag, but a spyder, there just not built the same ya know...i'd say go w/ witch ever one is cheaper for ya, then consentrate yur bucks on paint, then you'll soon upgraded on on....

i would choose a mag for all the little reasons. when you gas up the mag, it cocks and you go. you don't cock the bolt back by yourself. the mag has an internal reg, the spyders reg is horrible. you adjust the FPS by adjusting the internal reg. you adjust the FPS of a spyder by a spring. if your spyder breaks, good luck on the customer service. your mag breaks, if ever, send it to AGD and you'll have it at your house up and running the next week.

The Mag's dependability is lightyears ahead of any Spider. If money is an issue, I strongly suggest a decent used Mag versus a new Spider. Tons of them here or on Ebay.

The mag doesn't really 'cock', just the bolt latched and the on/off opens.....

it's open bolt blow-forward, meaning the bolt is ready to fire when it's in the back position, and gas blows the bolt forward and is returned by a spring.

I have both, so get the Mag. The Spyder is a great starter gun, but save your cash and buy the mag first. It won't let you down and you have great customer service... plus the ao boards.:)

                i dunno,

about 3 years ago, i gave my older bro my 1st gun(a spyder, all stock, except for lil' xpansion chamber) and this last week, i saw it, well i really didn't think it would work, he hasn't done anything too,but play w/ it for about 3 years, never replace anything cause he didn't know ya had to, so i put the air into it and it worked.

but also i whipped out my old micromag(hasn't been shot in a while) and found an old co2 tank, screw it on and it worked too.

                  The mag

I would choose the mag over the spyder any day of the week. The mag is simply the better one of the two and besides dose spyder have a message board for their customers. I didnt think so.

The air pressure forces the on-off ping down, opening it, which forces the rear of the sear down, and the front of the sear up, latching the bolt. Technicalities technicalities :)

                            Hey Clock,

I got a Spyder as my first marker and quickly ended up getting a Mag. Spyders are not bad, in fact they are a decent, relatively cheap marker that has a ton of upgrade potential. They are not made with the quality of construction put into mags though. The problem with upgrading something like a Spyder is that after all your upgrading you still have a Spyder and not an Emag or an Angel.

If you plan to add an electronic trigger frame to a Spyder, you will end up having quite a bit of money into the marker. For that kind of money you are way better just getting a better marker like a Mag right off the bat. If you cannot afford a new mag right off, check the classified section for a used mag and buy from a reputable member of this board.

I'm not bashing Spyders. I still have my TL+ as a backup marker and it works fine. I just believe Mags outclass and outperform Spyders in almost every way plus the support of AGD is unique and valuable. Just try and find a Spyder board somewhere where you get the kind of advice you are getting here. Nuff said.

                            Good luck!

Spend the extra cash and get the mag! I haven't used my Spyder since I bought my 98, which hasn't been used since I got my Palmer Blazer, which hasn't been used since I got my RT. The quality of the workmanship is MUCH better on the Mag. My Spyder tears up bolts quickly, the finish is screwed up, and most important of all, the newbies with the rentals think you are one of them when you hold a Spyder!
