I am putting together a 68 automag classic. I was told that if I put on a secondary regulator it would ha ve a negative affect on the marker. That it starve the marker of pressure. is this true? Please help. Thanks.

yes, that would starve the the valve. Its not needed since the mag already has a regulator -
Yup, you end up with 3 regulators (tank, reg, and built in reg), so you get some made shootdown. You want to run a gas line straight from the tank to the valve, or through a gas thru and then to the va, dont get a reg. Welcome to AO

In order for a regulator to work/flow properly it needs to have a pressure differential of about 200psi. That means that a mag requiring 400psi would need at least 600psi from the regulator on the bottle to feed the mag regulator. If you add a level 10 bolt the requirement of the mag reaches up to 600psi. Therefore the input requirement would be 800psi from the bottle regulator into the mag regulator. Adding another regulator would increase the bottle requirements to about 1000psi or higher.
Most bottles are 800 - 850 psi.Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.Comment
