    HPA Fill Nipple???

I have a Max-flo 4500. Has anyone else had a fill nipple go bad on them? On any tank, is this an item that goes bad? Mine did, could only fill to 3000 then it would leak out. What exactly is the fill nipple anyway? Just a one way check type valve? Thanks!!!

Yup just a simple one way valve.

For a fix - If you have your tank completely depressurized you can just unscrew the fill nipple and clean it out (that could help). Once it's off, from the backside you'll see two ends to small C clip, pop that out (being sure to keep track of it). Inside there's your dirty parts.

Be sure and teflon it back on there.

And if you bork it yourself, I can send you one np!

ACI also reccomended oiling the part (the techs at ACI, a tank manufacturer). While the prospect still scares me (oil and temp changes etc.), if you put a few drops in the nipple before a fill it could help to. I've never seen one of their tanks explode so...

      Fill nipple and oil.

Hey, the last post that states you probably could put oil in your fill nipple....DON'T!!!!!! You will have temp changes and vaporized oil explodes at a relatively low temp under high pressure. Basically it will become a bomb. Don't do it and you'll be fine.

In paintball, you're using a synthetic (non petroleum based oil). Last time I checked, petroleum oils tend to like fire/explosion, never had pb oil do it.

Like I said, ACI reccomends it (the tank manufacturers!). I've seen it done (and had it done to my tank by an ACI employee, despite my objections). My tank never exploded (and in fact stopped leaking) and I've never seen one of their tanks do it...

It's not the only way, but it did work without a negative reaction...

I think fill nipples with the small C clip inside them are not so good because some times the C clip bend and the piston bend's to.
The best fill nipple is without the C clip. It is with a large and stronger piston and it never bend's. The head of that piston is with a line.
