This is a dumb question, but I am stupid when it comes to nitrogen tanks and guns. Can you run a classic 68 mag with nitro stock? I bought one off ebay came with nitro and a bunch of stuff, but there is no reg on it. Do I need a reg?

no you dont need another reg, the one on the tank should be fine as long as it puts out 700-850psi, most screw in tanks are somewhere in that range. there are some low pressure screw in tanks that only put out 450psi if you arent sure what your output is then you can have it tested at your local shop...or post what kind of tank you have and im sure someone here can tell you what the output is -
what if the tank did not have a reg on it, its just a PMI pure energy 68 ci 3000 psi tank. Do I need to buy a reg?Comment

If you can screw in the tank into a regular ASA it will have a reg on it. I don't think any tanks put out 3k psi.
The PE site says it'll put out about 800-900 psi, and they don't list a low pressure output tank.
