I think that there would be lots of steel re-enforcement included with the body. Every stress point would have to be re-engforced with a plate of ss or something to keep the body from wearing too quickly...

actually I'm a senior in high school and I've been in cadd for all 4 years of high school. I have a 5 page certificate of competencies in drafting. I would love to help out as soon as you start making your own parts. I found when I looked at the way those rings in the body are and the spring and bolt that there is no really contact of the bolt to that ring that an acrylic ring 1/4 inch thick cannot handle.

I like the quick twist removal though. So I wouldn't change that. but I will consider drafting up a micro style body for it.

i don't think those rings in the stock mag bodies are a full 1/4. If that is true, then you will not be able to make them 1/4 inch because the length of the bolt is set and a larger space between the chamber and the bolt would not allow the bolt to go fully forward and seal with the barrel, which would cause major blowback and probably not allow you to gain 280FPS, and you would waste a lot of air. Now, granted, if the barrel backs up perfectly it will absorb some of the impact through the ring and transfer it to the barrel retention pin, but do not rely on this because in that case firing without a barrel could be VERY hazardous.

                  nice...

if it does come through and is final. then maybe you could sell to a couple of AO members before you sell it to a company? give me an e-mail if you ever decide to produce them... [email protected]

Getting into the System-X kinda mood ha? I think that would be great if they were durable enough to last a while. Also what would the approximate weight be?

To be honest, I wouldn't buy it BECAUSE its plastic. It looks nice, but I am not going to put a hunk of plastic on my gun.

                        System-X

I got to the post about the System-X thing about the same time I was thinking the same thing. That sounds exactly like was System-X is making for Angels. They have a two piece barrel with a clear front on it that comes in different translucent colors. If you could make a clear body I would definately buy one no matter how durable they are just because that would kick ***. You could watch all the operation while you shot. That would definately grab enough attention from buyers despite the fact that it is plastic. The only discouraging aspects of plastic markers are the fault of BE etc. that make bad guns. If you design a mod, then I think you are getting into a completely different subject and the fact that it is plastic doesn't have the same B.E. connotations(sp?). I think it is well worth the try and definately something I hope to see produced in the near future.

Right now that ring is about .1 inches thick and I'm working on another one that will have a thicker ring but I'm going to have to take that off the barrel so that I get a good fit. I'll post up the file once its complete.

How much would a barrel or body cost? Will you sell them? To me???? I'm very interested in one of those bad boys. Mostly the barrel.
                            I have no Sig.

I'm no where near making them for other people I'm still working on making sure it fits and it doesn't shatter. I think I'm going to have to with a micromag style. because that would allow me more room to thicken up the ring.
