    Emag anomalies

Alrighty AO, I could use some solid technical advice.

I have an emag that used to have software v1.37 but was reprogrammed for v4.00 during the AO SoCal/NorCal event.

Prior to the software revision, if I let the gun sit without firing for a few minutes the first shot won't produce any firing. Instead, the solenoid actuates BUT does not fire the gun. 'CLICK' Trigger pulls after that will fire the gun.

However, if I pull the trigger once I gas up the gun, it'll fire.

My emag did this BEFORE and after v4.0.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance,
    Jim

My only guess is a sticky on/off pin.You should drop 5-6 drops of oil in the ASA an fire it 20-30 times before you start playing.(w/ out the barrel or you'll fill it up w/ oil)

If that's not helping, try a drop right in the on/off cavity and see if that clears it up.Make sure your on/off assembly has the x-ring in the bottom of it incase some one changed it to a white o-ring.The x-ring has less stiction for that reason.

I'll respond in the order in which the replies arrived.

abunkerer: It absolutely fires in mechanical mode, without a hitch.

RRfireblade: USAF Flyboy and I were over zealous with the oil and that seemed to alleviate it, most of the time. However, there's an occasional "stick" here and there.

Since you mentioned the "x-ring" I recall rebuilding the on/off sometime in september. The x-ring is an opaque ring, correct? If so, then I think you might've just found my boo-boo.

I'm at work right now, so I won't be able to take a look into it till I get home.

Thanks a lot folks, and please keep 'em comin'!

        Jim

          It's a black o-ring w/ an x profile.Also called a quad o-ring.

              hmmmmmmmmmmm

...the x-ring didn't come with the RT o-ring kit.

              OR

If it did, I must've lost it.

Thanks a lot amigos, I'll be tracking a few of those o-rings down.

It's an Emag specific part, look under Emag parts. It's in there to lessen the stiction potential of the on/off pin to make it easier for the soleniod.

                  RRFireblade,

You were right, it WAS the quad oring or should I say "lack" of quad oring.
