    Another OLD mag question

ok so i dont know how many of you read my first questions but basically i have a old mag. its a 68automag, not the newer 68 classic which is being sold currently.

before i asked if i could just get a LX put on old mag. i learned that there may be problems becuase of the old regulator i have working at a different than needed pressure. so my question is could i just get a new stock regulaotr and such and then put a lvl ten on that? would that fit in the old 68 'mag?
well it all started with me and the Cheat one day...

You should just need to change the reg piston to the high pressure one.

All you would need to do is replace your reg piston (and maybe the spring pack) and you'll be fine. I did that with my minimag and LX works wonderfully. Paying for a new piston and spring pack is certainly cheaper than buying a whole new valve.

        Just buy an x-valve
Why does everyone say you need to change the piston and the spring pack. I don't think it makes a whole world of differance.

Hmm,X valve $225 w/ trade,$325 alone or Reg piston $15,Lx $65,tough choice if money is NO object.

And you often have to change the Reg piston on older valves because they vent at a lower pressure and not allow enough increase in velocity when the L10 is added as the L10 requires higher pressures.

Actually, the reg piston is a brass assembly that goes into the reg on the gun. Tiny little piece.

                  Yup. That's it.

Take the valve out, remove the adjuster screw and take the spring pack out. I find that unscrewing the back half and pushing the piston out through the hole makes it easy to remove.
