I polished mine just a few days ago...mirror finish...looks awesome and saved me about $100 at the very least... ...it only took about two hours with a good polish wheel setup (not a dremel)...it's kind of a pain polishing out the dimples from the sandblasting they do at the factory...but well worth it if you ask me

Ralicea...there's really not much to it...you just have have to have a polishing wheel setup (not the dremel tool!!!)...I don't have one but I got lucky and happened to have a friend that does...you might try an autobody repair place and just see if they'll do it for you...if hey won't they might know of a place that will...good luck

                MAGitt,

What type of polishing wheel did you use? what I mean is what type of material was on the polishing wheel? Sand paper, cloth, etc?

                thanks,

yeah it's a BOA. IT's my fav barrel. Little heavy but acurate as can be.

                  About the polishing thing.
Start with a FLapwheel on a drill to get out the dimples. The flapwheel will contour to the share of the body and will get ya going a little faster. Then get a "sanding sponge" for menards and us it to get the dimples out where the drill won't go (i.e. around the p/f)
Next use a 200 gritt sandpaper and when it's all even use a 2000 0r a 3000 gritt sandpaper. These should be automotive sandpaper and make shure it's the kind you use water with because it make it a WHOLE LOT shinneyer.
When done I used some stuff called "mother aluminum polish". It's about 3$ for a good size can and you'll only need a 10th of whats in there. It brings the body to a high gloss. Any questions ?

I used a bench style polish wheel...it's similar to a bench grinder. No sand paper required...just use the coarse wheel to remove the finish and burnish out any inconsistencies and then move over to the finer grade wheel...I'll admit most people don't have access to a setup like this...but if you can find one it's definitely worth your time...if you can't then you've seen the results from Heats method and it looks damn good too...I just think the bench setup might be a little faster...

I'm sorry for the many questions, but I'm trying to do this right. I went to the hardware store and they had flap wheels that were coarse (60 and 80). Which should I get?

What grade sand paper should I use after the flap wheel? Please be as specific as possible as I don't want to screw up my Mag body.

                      Thanks for your help!

get the finer of the two. Either will work and the wheels last a long time. But with the finer one you'll have less handsanding later on.

I tried the dremel. for one it has no power and for too it dosn't cover enough surface. The only power tool you should have to use is a normal drill.

                            Heat,

Did you use a dremel or a drill to do the polishing?

                            thanks,

Get powder coating if you have the money and just want to be super unique. Powdercoating can mess with the tolerances in your mag though. Use the HEAT polishing method if you want a super shiny stainless beast. If you want the MAXD OUT look though, go with the black teflon. I know where you can get them for 100 a piece, either polish or teflon.
