    ATF vs. Sillicone Oil

My Mag will be coming in the mail in a week or so. I am not going to buy oil for it but I want to know what to use out of what I have. I use hoppes on my spyders and tippmanns.

I have that, 25wt. silicone shock oil and ATF, plus zillions of gun oils like CLP, Fp-10, milltec-1, etc.

I'm thinking it's between the sillicone and ATF.

I'm sure I'm going to get slammed for sayin' this, but I personally use a mixture between air-tool oil and Dex3. I know ATF is suposed to destroy seals but in my 4 years of using this mixture, I have never had to rebuild my mag. (I do anyways every season, preventative maint). My seals are clean and supple (bouncy, they seal). It's a perfect 50:50 mix, its cheap. My whole team uses it on their mags.

    Cheers

?? since when? There are seals everywhere in transmissions and mine's been going for 181,000 miles. I don't even know if it's been changed. I guess I'll use ATF anyone know what viscosity it is?

Ya, I wasn't going to bother posting that fact 'cuz I've seen debates about it and didn't want to "get into it". Honestly though, add equal parts air-tool oil to ATF DexIII and it works great.

        Cheers
