Is a RT-ULE Custom worth it?

    Hey all,
I am thinking about moving up a step in markers from my Tippy A-5 to a RT-ULE Custom (when they are stocking them again).

I look at these posts and see alot of problems with these guns. Seems like they are so many problems, and they are always happening. I have owned an AutoMag and a MiniMag before, and I NEVER had any problems with them. However, I believe they only had the level 7 valve system. I liked them alot, but want to move into a gun that is more "electronic" type other than going to an Angel (not yet at least).

Can I expect great performance, ease of maintance, and especially reliability from a RT-ULE Custom? I have been out of the paintball realm for a few years and have noticed ALOT more markers on the scene now. When I stopped playing, you either had a AutoMag or a Cocker if you wanted a great gun (ADG still made better guns in my opinion). Now there seems to be so many types out there, which ones are the good guns to own.

I know personal opinion is half the argument, but what about the truthg about these guns?

All help is greatly appreciated. You guys help me decide.

If it helps, I am looking for a fast shooting marker that will be really close to an electric tourney gun. I will set this up like a tourney type, but probably not get that involved. I would like a double trigger with a short pull, and of course will be going NO2 or compressed air.

    Thanks again.

rtule-custom will be your best bet. if you get it with the intelliframe (theres your double trigger) and the ult (theres your ultra light trigger pull), then youll have a gun thats as close to electronic as possible, and defentialy tourney-ready.

you see all those problems because there are so many people here at AO, and in my own opinion, i dont think half the people really have a good idea on how their gun works.
Yummy yummy yummy, I've got fun in my tummy.

All mags are pretty easy to maintain. The people usually have problems with just fine tuning that only happen when you first get them. Its well worth it since there a good buy. 15 oz trigger pull with the ULT kit. Once everything is tuned there are practically no problems. Get one they are great guns.

You say get the Intelliframe. Is that not just becasue you can hook it up to your loader? I read another post that the new versions that VL offers, that you do not need the loader hook-up. Am I correct on this?

I want the double trigger, but I do no see the need for the intelliframe. Would a Y-frame be a better choice?

          Thanks again ya'll.

Intelli and ygrip both hook up to hoppers. A y grip is like a reverse intelli. So which ever you feel more comfortable with. The reason for getting the two frames is not the hook up. It is that it is a nicer trigger so you can pull faster.

I have just gotten my RT ULE, and it took a little time to tune. Make sure that you know how to tune the LVL10, which isn't that hard, just read the instructions on the included cd. Also make sure that you know how to tune the ULT. After everything has been tuned, and you have put a case of paint through it, it should work without any problems. Just as you know, before I had shot a case through it, it would act up on me, bolt not resetting etc. but now it works great.

take your tippmann a5 and put a double trigger e-grip. I shot one last weekend and it was a very nice feel. I personally liked it better than the hyperframe. Then just get the low pressure kit(i think its called comp air or something, tippmann makes it) for your a5. It will feel perfect from your description. Plus they look really cool.

I've had my ULT Custom for 3 mo.

                  Hey Flapjack,

I have had my ULT Custom RT Pro for just over 3 mo. now and I love it. For the price, there is not a better gun made and I've shot quite a few.

When I first got mine the Level 10 was not as soft on paint as it should have been and the ULT gave me trouble. It would go into runaway and sometimes the trigger would not reset. At the time there were not as many post about it so I was a little lost and I think everyone else was too.

For the Level X I just went to the longer/softer spring and no problems since with paint. As far as the ULT, it just has a break in period. Once you shoot it about a thousand times it works like a charm. We all just didn't know that at the time. I would recomment dry fireing through a couple tanks of air to break in the ULT. Then you can adjust it by adding or removing shims. It's easy.

Now, my 3-man team, Team Mag Daddies, all use RT Pros and we all have the ULT. Mine came with it when I ordered the custom package. My two team mates had older RT Pros and liked my ULT so much that they ordered one too. We put custom trigger stops on that get rid of unessasary trigger travel and they are walkable.

So far, two games into the season we are in first place in our division. We hold our own just fine against all the guys with high end electros. No, we can't match their ROF ball for ball but we get close enough for us. Most people can't believe that we shoot totally mech mags.

                  Hope this info helps

I purchased a RT ule custom a few months ago......u throw the intelli frame on there and u got urself a great gun. Once u get ur lvl10 and possibly ULT tuned right, gun shoots like a dream w/ no problems. If you have a few LvL10 problems at first, dont get discouraged....jus get that sucker tuned right and u'll be fine

I got mine a week ago and it was factory tuned just fine. At first, the bolt wouldn't reset properly. I spoke with a friend and it turned out to be a simple lack of lube. I dropped some lube in the ASA and in the on/off and it worked fine. I played today the whole day with it and had no problem what so ever.

I didn't have ot for a long time yet but so far, it treats me well.

Thanks for the info, guys. I am glad to know that if anything, it is just a fine tuning thing, and a break-in time. I have always loved AGD and their markers.

I have a thing about a closed bolt design with as little moving parts as possible. (this is why I stay away from the autococker type guns)

Besides, I would find it very hard to believe that ADG does not look at all the posts here. They would see the problems people are having, and fix them on a new gun as soon as possible. If there are a few issues with this Custom, I would think they would try to adjust them before they sold them. ADG has always been very helpful to me when I needed them. So, surely (DO NOT CALL ME SHIRLEY!) they would adjust them before they shipped.

Now, when do they put them back up for sell?????????

                            ASAP

                            Flapjack,

From what I have read in other post they usually run out of one part and as soon as they get those in they fill the orders untill they run out of something else. I would give them a call and get an est. on how long it would be back ordered if you ordered one. Or, try Tunaman or CPhilip, they probably have some in stock. And check the dealers forums. You might find someone that stocks them there.
