Hi everyone, I'm new here so I have many questions before I run off half cocked and make a wrong buying decision. I'm sure the guys and galls here can help me with these q's.
1. What's the difference between the E-mag and the X-mag?
2. What are the advantages/disadvantages to a longer versus shorter barrel and vice versa?
3. What are the advantages/disadvantages of a ported versus non ported barrel and vice versa?
4. Should I run HPA or N2 and who makes a good air system?
5.What are the advantages/disadvantages of remote air?

Sorry bout the long post, bear with me cause I'm sure they'll be many to follow, LOL. Thanks everyone.

Re: Newbie Q's

1) Xmags use a different body that has a removable breech & integrated rail. (Emags use the tube & rail combo). Xmags also come with an anti chop eye. They are cocker threaded for barrels (Which an Emag can be with a ULE body). Aside from that, with the same software, the 2 guns will function exactly the same.

2) In an airball situation, the longer barrel will allow you to stay behind a bunker and kinda push into it with the barrel, allowing you to shoot while staying behind cover. 12-14" is about the norm. Anything over 16 is just silly.

3) Loudness. Might save a bit on efficiency b/c all the air is being used for propulsion and not lost out the porting.

4) HPA and N2 are interchangable. As most of the air you breathe is Nitrogen (78%). It's cheaper just to use compressed air for most stores. As such, that's what you'll normally get.

5) Takes the weight off the gun, but unless you have a stock, makes aiming a little harder b/c you're not steadying the gun against your shoulder anymore w/ the tank.

another thing about barrel porting: the more porting a barrel has, the harder it is to clean after a break.

Another thing with remote is that it decreases the flow rate, so there is some risk of getting shoot down, and it's almost impossible to shoot lefthanded with it, or at least very cumbersome, which is something you have to be able to do.

Hey Guys and galls-
Thanks for all the helpful info, special thanks to dayspring. Here are some more Q' for yall. So am I to understand that if you have an E-mag with a ULE body, that you would buy barrels for the autococker and they would fit? So after I break a ball, how do I get all the gunk out of all the porting holes?

Yes. You'd use autococker threaded barrels. (there are LOTS of guns that use cocker threading.)

As for the porting- dunk it in water and swish it around or use a spray bottle.

I use soft, art-style pipe-cleaners to clean my porting. Just be sure not to scrape the insides of the barrel with the metal center of the pipe cleaner.
Also, the X-mag is the same as an E-mag with a ULE body, X-valve, lotsa milling, and interchangeable modules so you can switch between warp and vertical configurations.

So I'm guessing that if I break a ball on the field I just squeggie and worry about the ports later. Who makes a good on off valve to go between my reg and gun?

Sadly, the best inline on/off is made by Smart Parts. I have one and it works great. I bought it before I heard about the whole law suit shindig. I'm ashamed, but it's not like I bought an impulse or shocker right? Right? Hehe, there are other inline on/off's made by different companies. I know CMI makes one that you can get new on ebay for $10-20. I don't know of any others, but if you look around a little who knows what you'll find.

i would recomend a Pro-connect. Made to easily connect at pressures from 400-1000psi (the typical output pressure of paintball tanks). A single push button makes disconnecting easy too. Typically used with Apocalypse nitrogen tanks, automags, and remote lines.

I absolutely refuse to buy anything from Smart Parts. Having said that, doesnt the AGD flatline regulator have a built in on off valve?

Thanks again to all guys and galls who have been answering my questions. Say I was to buy the flatline regulator, do I have to mount it to a drop foward or will it attach right to the bottom of the gripframe, what do yall recomend? Also would it be a smart idea to use a feed neck clamp to keep the hopper more secured to the frame?
