    twitchy lvl 10..... still....

    Hey folks,
Haven't posted in here fore a while. I bought a XRTP a few months ago and have been having some really annoying lvl 10 problems ever since. I know how to adjust it according to leaks from the valve, down the barrel leaks, trigger stick, etc. It seems that I just cannot find the right carrier/shim combo. The biggest carrier I can get to is 2 without a massive down the barrel leak. Even so, there is a very irritating hiss with this carrier. If i got to the 1.5 there is no leak but there is massive bolt stick. I am keeping the same o-ring when switching carriers and all that good stuff. Oiling on/off, asa, wherever. I'm getting really frustrated, any ideas? No chops btw, just leaks/bolt stick. Well, not JUST...

Did you try experimenting with different bolt springs? Your problems with the lvl 10 are similar to the ones I had until I tried different springs. I use the old style spring with cut end and took a full coil off and it has worked great for many months and only leaks when it needs oil. It never has stuck and has never chopped either.

Yes I've experimented with different springs. I'm using the smallest one as of now. The larger the spring, the larger the leak. Any other ideas?

The culprit, your carrier o-ring is bad, get a fresh new
one and follow the steps to here to fix it.

One: take it all apart and make sure the stem on the bolt
is clean and freshly oiled... Level X loves oil, you can't
have too much. I recommend KC troublefree.

Two: replace the carrier o-ring in the carrier and repeat
the tuning steps. Make sure it's well lubed. Start with
the two line carrier and work your way down from there.

Three: "Trigger stick" is good, it means you just need
to crank in the velocity adjuster... if you crank it
in enough, the trigger will work again. If you start
to leak out the back back and its still not firing,
back out the velocity a quarter turn until it stops
leaking and go down a spring and up a carrier. (Make
sure the stem of the bolt is well lubricated as well.)

This usually solves all LX problems with "uncurable" leaks.

        (Added)

btw. if the larger springs are making you leak, then you
need to take out a shim (or two, but make sure you take
them out one at a time and try it first) I also tune and
        run with the "red" spring...
