    Barrel Question

I've got a question about barrels. I have an RT Pro with Vert. Feed, and a Smartparts All American Back/Freak Front barrel. The back is designed for a powerfeed left/right automag. It will work for vert feed, but I can't turn it to the left (like a powerfeed mag). It will turn of course, but the breach will be blocked. I was wondering if they actually make an All American back that is specifically for vert. feed mags? My problem is when I put my barrel in, if I don't turn, it can come out, or twist around pretty easy. Sorry if I'm confusing anyone, but not sure how to word this...

They might make a vert back for it, you'd have to look around (check eBay).

Or you could talk to an airsmith (maybe DocNickel?) who might be able to put a groove into the back to make it vert twistlock compatible.

Or, and I hate it to say it, go ULE and sell your excess bodies and barrels. It sucks, trust me, cause that's what I'm doing.

make it easy for yourself, buy an adapter to accept cocker threads, that way you won't have to worry about it....

please explain how would a cocker thread adapter help anything here i mean??? one they only make an adapter to make a cocker barrel go into twist locks not the other way around and since the guy already has a barrel that would be pretty point less... any how... to help this guy.. you can tighten the barrel pin so that it is very hard to move and wont come out easy mine is decently lose but with older all americans and boomsticks if i put the barrel lock in the twist lock then unlock it it takes an extradorinary amount of force to get the barrel back out... the way to tighten the pin is if you take off the grip frame there is a screw on the bottem of the pin that can tighten/loosen the spring in there thus increasing the force.. if i was you i would tighten that to the point where you need a towel to lock and unlock the barrel then lock it and let it sit a minute then unlock it that should near lock it place in the center position. give it a shot let me know if it works.. also this is a therory so if it doesnt work im sorry.

Well, since most barrel companies have stopped producing automag twist lock barrels, they are becoming more rare, especially finding ones for vertical feeds. The new mag bodies use cocker threads, if he has cocker barrels, it makes his barrels more useful on other guns and his, say if he upgrades to a ULE body, which should be done. The adapters make life easier, a lot easier than buying a new freak back just for the matter..... Maybe you should do it to your mags too, love it on mine!

I use powerfeed barrels on my vert feed without any problems. If yours won't stay properly oriented, use another barrel o-ring in one of the grooves. It should hold it nice and tight. I've never had a problem.

There are also people here who can mill your powerfeed barrels.
