    Impulse Question?

RickEZ10 and I worked on my Impy last night. We are having a tough time with the velocity. We broke it down and cleaned and lubed it. We checked the Vert Reg. We got it shooting at 300 FPS, but had to turn the pressure up to 220 PSI. I would like some help on how to keep the velocity at 300 FPS but with less then 200 PSI.

Oh and Rick, sorry about shooting your hand. I feel horrid about that!

    Try raising the dwell.

Which one raises it? The front one or the back one?

No, Rick did the teching. I shot him point blank in the hand during the testing. We got it firing nicely, but at 225 PSI. He suggested I post this for other ideas to fix it.

Poor Rick is right. I feel terrible about bunkering his hand!

            RTFM.

It (the manual) should be downloadable from the Smart Parts website.

The front button rasies the dwell, the back one lowers it.
What kind of tank are you using? It is putting out 800psi?

Yes it is a pre-set tank putting out over 800. It is flowing into the Vert Reg where it is lowered down to 220 PSI now. I want to lower it below 200 PSI without sacrificing FPS!

I'm not sure, maybe it's lubed too much?

                        fps

the Impy manual for mine says that if you are not shooting over 250fps at 220
psi, then there is dirt in the center section of the solinoidand needs to be replaced. Does'nt seem to make sense to me . But just my $.02.

p.s. : can one actually "flip" someone withe their ring finger

I am gonna try and do like you said. Up the dwell till I am shooting over 300 FPS then back out the pressure.

I would lower your pressure before adjusting dwell. Here is what I do for my impulse, this works well for me: Set the input pressure to 160-180 psi depending on your valve and what you feel like, shoot over chronograph, raise or lower dwell until impulse is shooting around 280 fps, fine tune velocity by slightly raising or lowering pressure

make sure you don't run the pressure above 200 psi, the solenoid isn't rated for it and you risk blowing out o-rings in the solenoid.

                            Hope this helps you out
