    Release of air from bolt

    Newbie here.

I recently purchased a used Minimag and have just a quick question...

When I slightly pull the trigger (not a full pull) with the safety on or off, the mag released air from the bolt, but it doesn't fire. When I do a full trigger pull it fires just normal. I was curious to see if this release of air is normal with just a slight pull of the trigger?

Here are some of my mods if this helps...
    -intelliframe
    -Level 10
    -Ans II valve
    -Running on Compressed air

    Thanks for the help.

I had almost the same problem. Try to oil the on off orings a bit and the pin. After I did that it fixed it. It might be your Ans II valve though?

With the safety on, the sear still moves slightly, and tugs at the edge of the bolt, making it rock slightly. This upsets the seal between the bolt center and the power tube O-ring(s) The same thing happens during normal firing, but it's over so quickly you don't notice it.

(One thing leaning me toward the 03 Shocker.. No sear..)

Its a level 10 shim problem. When you pull the trigger slightly, the bolt moves forward as the sear tip moves down. If the powertube shims have the carrier pushed back too far, the vent hole in the bolt stem becomes exposed a bit and leaks air. Remove a shim or two and it should be fine.
Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.
