sound analysis?

How do i do a sound analysis?
My computer has all the toys i could ever want so im sure i have the hard ware. but what program do i use? and how is it done?

All you need is a mic and a program that will display the sound waves graphically. I use a program called Sound Forge by sonic foundry. It's a bit high end but I have it for other reasons, it just happens to work quite nicely.
If you go to their web site i think they will let you download a 30 day trial version. Cool Edit is another popular program that will work too.
