    Powerfeed cracked clean off!!

We were playin a few rounds of paintball today and my buddy had a lend of someone's mag he was considering buying. Anyways he was just gettin it set up and the weight of the hopper cracked the powerfeed tube clean off the mainbody!!! I couldn't believe my eyes ...

No force or nothing just the hopper full of paint and it snapped off. I'll see if he can get some pics of it.

What I was wondering is what he could do about it because it's not even his he was just tryin it out.

must have been a veeery old, or poorly maintained gun...not one I would buy, at any rate.
You could always try and weld it back on, but that's too much trouble, I would suggest buying a used minimag/automag body, and returning it. I've seen them go for like $20, so it would be a relatively cheap fix. That's about it, unless you have the skills to weld it back on.

how do you maintain a powerfeed except when paint gets in it?
that is such a chipmunk mentality

I had a mag do that a looooong time ago. They can develop cracks around the powerfeed. It happens. Even AGD products can have stress fractures or fatigue over time. It sucks for sure. We managed to get it soldered back on without a problem and used the marker for a year or two before getting our RT's. Don't panic just upgrade to a ULE body.

I can see how maybe age could be a factor, but I don't see how maintainence has anything to do with this "freak" break-down. I mean, how do you "maintain" a solder joint? :) ???

Used bodies go pretty cheap on ebay now that ULE is available. Sucks that your friend had the gun in his hand when it happened -- its nothing he did I'm sure.

I'm pretty sure if you call up AGD they'll do something about it for you. Wether that be hooking you up with a new body (for probally a fee) or maybe even soldering it back on.. I would give them a buzz before you try any stuff yourself.

Yup, call AGD and tell them what happened. I'm 99.99% positive that they would either give you a new body, or fix that one for free.

ANNNNNND you'd be wrong. Someone posted this EXACT same situation a few months back, he called AGD and they told him he could buy a new body.

                    That would probably be me.

It just kinda fell off. They said tough luck. I welded it back on with my mad skills. Remember it's stainless.

                        its mine

hello im the owner of this mag. i borrowed it for the weekend and like mike said the powerfeed cracked off. i did not even get to use it and before i knew it the hopper was on the ground and there was no powerfeed lol.
i fixed the problem using jb weld yesterday and its pretty solid there now. ill put it to the test this weekend and ill let you all know how it works. i did not want to send it to agd seeings im in canada and it didnt seem worth it for an old body when the ule is out now. so hopfully this lasts until i can get a new body.
                        thanks

A friend did it once, I think. He went to a body shop (car) and they did a few spot weld on it, it has to be a stainless steel rod, I think.
