    polishing gloss black intelli frame

hey. i'm going red and polished with my mag, but i have a black intelliframe. trying to trade for a nickel one is a pain, and i was wondering how i could make my frame match my vert feed polished body. do i strip the anno chemicaly first? if so, how? or should i just take a rotary wire brush to it and then polish it? i'm sure somebody has tried this before, lmk what to do and what not to do, thanx.

You have to chemically strip it to polish it right. Unless you want to mess with Drano... send it out to get it done right.

          I've done this.

Forget chemicals. and PUT THE WIRE BRUSH DOWN!

          Parts list:
220 Grit wet or dry sandpaper 4 sheets
400 Grit wet or dry sandpaper 3 sheets
800 Grit wet or dry sandpaper 2 sheets
2000 Grit wet or dry sandpaper 1 sheet
Mother's Mag Rim polish (small white/red container, about $5.00 at autozone)
          Use THAT polish, it roxors.
Dremel with FINE sandpaper (will save alot of time in the nooks)
5 gallon bucket of elbow grease.

**tip** Don't sand the anno off of the trigger frame where it meets the rail, you can't see it anyway, and if you do you will remove a thin layer of metal and then you are messing with tolarances. Just better not to!

Now, stip the trigger frame of the grips/trigger/safety
get a smal bucket of warm water and add some dish soap, not too much (like 1 tsp to a gallon)
Get a good movie going, you're gonna be there a LONG time.
sand as much of the black off with the 220 grit. rinse the part and the sand paper in the bucket of water often. If you have a dremel, this is the point where you use it. Keep it on LOW speed with FINE sandpaper and take your time. Once you have about 95% of the black off, hit it with the 400 grit. Sand untill all of the black is gone and there are no deep scratches left from the 220. then move to the 800 (600 optional at this point) Sand untill there are no scratches from the 400 left. Then hit it with the 2000 grit. 2000 won't remove any scratches, but it polishes nice. If there are still scratches, start over with the four hundred and work your way back to 2000. Clean the part when finished with Warm soapy water, get all the crap out of the nooks. It should look kind of like a a hazy chrome. Then hit it with the Mother's Mag wheel polish. Follow their directions and polish away. re-polish it about 5 times.. After you are finished polishing, get a nice clean terry cloth towel and buff it for a while. It will look like a mirror! I'd estimate that this is going to take you like 4 hours +. I've done this to several of my own parts as well as other's. An example?

ALL POLISHED! (my mag named "Bling")
