Shots per tank... did a search, found "zip"

I am very new to 'Mags. Just traded a cocker for a ULE mag, in fact. To tell the truth I have yet to air it up and try 'er out. I had a question though...

I have a ULE body, with an X valve, ULT Intelli... How many shots can I expect off of a 68ci/3K pre-set bottle?
    Off of a 45/45 bottle?
    Off of a 68/45 bottle?

Are there tweaks and mods to get better efficiency? Like a different bolt? I think I have some sort of "foamie" bolt from what I can feel... Is that good?

Any help would be appreciated. If this is a topic that has been "done" to death, please point me in the direction of answers and close/lock/dispose of this thread as needed.

      45/45

You think a 45/45 would get about the same then (650-750 shots per tank)?

There's a chart on this page showing average shot counts for CO2 and HPA tanks.

          thanks for the chart...

          Zap the Mad,

Thanks for the chart. I had heard of the "cubic inch x 10" equation before. I just thought it was for lower-end blow-backs. My cockers get WAY better efficiency than that though. I was hoping a mag would have a better shot-to-cubic inch ratio, too.

Oh well... if it don't, then so be it. I am still happy to be part of the mag family.

So, for those reading this and too lazy to check out the link:

          68/3 = about 680
          68/45 = about 1020
          45/45 = about 675

So, if that is the case, then if I buy a 45/45 and the field can only fill to 3k psi, then I can only expect about 450 shots off that tank, huh? That's pretty crappy. Would have to re-fill after almost every game... Bummer.

The X-valve comes with the Level Ten (LX) bolt system. As of this moment there are no other LX style bolts available for mags. The LX is what acts as an Anti Chop device. It is true that you do loose a little efficency with it, but the mass majority of players are willing to sacrifice for the no choppies.

Personally I'm an oddball and I enjoy running a 114 4.5k tank via remote. It's easier for me all around and I get near 1k shots off of about 1/2 a tank.

Hay Superman Lots of factors go into the shots per tank deal. But yes a cocker gets many more shots on a tank than your mag will.
If you have a good paint to barrel match and use a barrel that is about 6in long before venting then you your Mag will get around 450shots on a 45ci tank with a 3000psi fill.
I tested my SP all american sprial barrel -VS- Lapco bigshot and the bigshot gets about 75 shots more from a 45/3000.(@465 with big shot @390 with SP) If your field only gives 3000psi fills than lookinto a big tank, I use a 114ci tank now and shot half a case before needing air, but my cocker I can shot a full case on the same tank

mags arent exactly known for their efficiency. But they're robust as hell. I'd get a 10"-14" barrel kit with no porting for at least 8 inches; that will help. I have a freak kit with 14" Teardrop front. No porting for 9.5" and I can always get a perfect barrel-paint match.

                    gas efficiency

ive noticed that my mag does pretty well on efficiency. i shot 900+ balls out of my level 10 classic valve a couple weeks ago...i had less than 1000psi left in my 68 3k PE tank. its true they arent the most efficent guns but all my friends shoot 98 customs so they bring 2 or 3 co2 tanks with them when we play. meanwhile i just shoot one tank all day long. now with my 88 3000 i can play trigger happy all day long and not worry about running out. not sure if the x valve or retro valve are less efficient or not. i'll now soon as i have a retro valve and lvl 10 on the way.

I noticed that once my tank reports under 1000psi, that it will not have enough pressure to push the bolt forward. It will only chuff. I thought this was just my emag, but I tried it on my mech mag(which recently got L10) and found the same results. Is this normal for L10, I know that my A.I.R. Mech mag would empty my tank more than that. Let me know what you guys have seen. Thanks in advance!

lvl 10 does take more pressure to fire. Maybe 1000psi. I dont know about the bolt, but my retro w/ lvl 10 will go down to about 300psi before it won't shoot anymore.

I noticed a similar pressure threshold with my x-valve ULE; around 350 to 400 PSI before it absolutely will not shoot. I know my valve depends on around 450 PSI internally, and being fed 650+ to avoid shootdown (techies correct me if I'm wrong). I've only run it down this far while dry firing, not with paint, since my field does all day air and I refill every couple games.
