shooting hot...

I have an x-valved mag w/a medusa frame and lvl 10. When I went to the field recently, I found that my marker would shoot hot (like 300+) but when I turn the velocity down it won't shoot at all. I figured it was the lvl 10 (assuming i had too small of a carrier on it) but when I tried the next largest carrier it leaked down the barrel. Anything else this could be caused by?

What spring are you running?

The middle one I believe, it's the one that is reccomended in the manual. I can't say for sure now b/c I'm at school, but I'll check when I get home.
