    Quad O-ring on emag substitute?

I have an emag (duh) with a level x kit on it. it is leaking down the barrel. When I gently tug on the trigger in mech mode without firing the gun, it will stop leaking. I suspect the on/off quad o-ring is to blame.

I want to play tomorrow and I don't have a new quad o-ring handy. Would it be possible to stick a RT on/off o-ring in its place until my order from agd comes in?

I'm pretty sure that it should be just fine. I ran an RT on/off oring instead of a quad in my old micro for quite a while (half a year) without even knowing it. Have a good time playing paintball!

Sounds like you need to remove a shim from your LX setup.

      Try that first.

Yep, sounds like a shim issue. Remove one or two shims as required.
Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.

          Removing shims

Initially, I thought it was the shims too. I took off the power tube tip and took out both shims. It still leaked. I am using a carrier with one ring. I unfortunately do not have any of the other carriers.

I ended up going to play leaky gun and all. I am of the habit that you need to dry fire a 'mag for a few dozen shots to "warm" it up. I discovered that while dry firing, the leak went away after emptying most of the air out of a 68/45k tank. I thought, maybe the pressure was too high for some odd reason (the tank is preset to 800-850 psi). I went and refilled the tank and it still wasn't leaking.

I played several games and discovered it was not leaking anymore.

That was two days ago. Today, it was cold and rainy, and I went playing again and again the darn thing was leaking when I went to dry fire it. This is with both shims out still.

I should mention that this is a second hand gun, with a fairly low s/n (~600s) and I would hazard to guess that it saw 15-20 cases before I received it in good working condition. It was after I personally shot another 3-4 cases that I started to see the issue. I am almost ready to lay money down that it is not the lx that is the issue.

          Less.

When's the last time that you've oiled it?
Really, if its leaking down the barrel, there isnt a whole lot else it can be besides level 10..

Pull and hold the trigger when it's leaking.

              Does the leak stop?

If so, start by replacing the on/off center o-ring by unscrewing the top piece from the bottom piece of the on/off assembly. Also, replace the on/off bottom o-ring that is around the outside of the on/off bottom piece.

If replacing those two o-rings doesn't fix the issue, it's definitely an LX issue.

It will be good to get those things out of the way so you know where to look.

you don't have any of the other carriers?
                what happened?

well the quad is not your problem I can almost guaruntee it.

black vcg has the advice you need in the last post.

you said it quit, and then two days later it started again when it was cold out. I'll bet it's the lvl 10 carrier leaking. after you do what black vcg says, and the leak is still there, you can't change lvl 10 carriers like you said. I say change the o-ring in the carrier. you can find one the right size in a mag rebuild kit, or go to the hardware store and buy a handful of rubber ones. they will seal easily, and you will more than likely find one that works well with the one carrier you have.

oh yeah, when it's all said and done and you fix the leak, put the shims back in! the more shims without leaking the better. the lvl 10 will reset quicker.

Pretty much all the advise that could be given has already but I have a weird situation, a friend of mine just got a RT ULE pro wit a ULT kit, it has worked great and ben broken with probly 2 cases of paint throught it and a lot of dryfireing, well sunday he comes out and gasses up his gun and it is leaking down the barrel, I mess with it for a while and even change to a normal On Off assy. re-tune the LX completly check every O-ring in the valve, and make sure that it is all oiled but it continues to leak out of the power tube.

Personman: I neglected to mention, but I did lube it up before dryfiring. This is after I took the entire thing apart and removed any dirt I found inside.

BlackCVG: I guess I didn't explain myself very well. When I lightly depress the trigger without causing it to fire in mech mode, it will cause the leak to stop. This leads me back to my original question: Can I substitute the E-mag only quad o-ring with a regular RT pro on/off o-ring until I get the quad o-ring?

I will check to see if I have those o-rings in my rebuild kit and try them.

the electrician: I bought it second hand and it was working when I got it. Since it was working, I decided not to press for them. And I will put the shims back in once it works again.

                    Less.

It is quite possible that it is still a level 10 issue. I would try to get hold of a smaller carrier and see if that makes a difference.

                        Good news!

I have good news! I finally received the quad o-ring and my leak issues are over.

                        Thanks for the help.
