velocity and quietness?

Hi, I just tried out my new mag with my new 12" tear drop barrel. and i dont know what velocity it was at, but it was pretty loud, does the velocity affect the noise of the gun? I saw a guy at my field with a teardrop and a mag and his gun was very quiet.

yes it does i was shooting my stock barrel(no porting) at like 200fps and it was very quiet and then i used it later at 290 and it is so much louder, less fps=less pressure(on mag)=quieter
