    DYE Boomstick 14" NOT GOOD!?

Well I purchased a 14" Dye boomstick for my RT Pro and the Lvl 10 is actually stopping inside the barrel. I have to push the thing back with my finger before I can fire again. It also has poor accuracy (sp?), and the fitting is loose. It can move around once locked in. Has anyone else had these problems? And if so, what barrel should I have gotten?

    Thanks,
    Richard

And this might be a stupid question but oh well....what is a DETENT?

What bore size Boomstick did you get?

As for the tightness of the barrel, you may need to adjust the twist lock (I'm assuming that's what you got, not a cocker barrel) assembly. That piece is under the rail & requires an allen key to adjust. However, before you do that, look at you barrel and see if there are 2 orings on it. If not, that's why.

A detent is sometimes a spring, a spring mounted ball or piece of plastic or rubber used to keep from double feeding a ball. For twist lock barrels, they are called nubbins.

If you don't have any, they are available on the AGD store at http://store.airgun.com

You know I'm not sure the bore size...no number on the barrel case. It says "Barrel is Automag 14"" number 20057014.

Man I didnt want to read that.

I'm considereing getting a LvL10 and all I use are DYE one piece stainless barrels for my 68 Automag. I've read on other post's about that happening. You might want to do a search here to see what they did to fix it. I can't really remember so I'm not going to say.

email DYE about it, they will arrange for you to send it to them for an evaluation. did that awhile back with my 10" DYE UL that was a twist lock.

it could also be the screw that holds your frame on..might be to long..see if you can feel it behind the twist lock assembely in the body,if you can, take it out,and dremel it down a little bit..i had the same problem, but after i dremeled it,everything was fine

The outer diameter of the barrel is noticably smaller than the inner diameter of the body. Its a known problem with twistlock boomstick barrels. Put a wrap or two of electrical tape around the barrel in each of the two barrel o-ring grooves. Put the barrel o-rings back into the grooves. Put the barrel back into the body. You will notice it is much more stable now. the bolt should not rub the insides of the barrel unless the barrel id is too small.
Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.

i dont' think it is the barrel that is giving you the problems, you might just have to toy around with that level ten till you get it set right for your gun

                      On the contrary...
It has been my experience that the Dye barrels are the tightest fitting(almost too tight) barrels on any mag i have seen yet. Apparently the actually use and adhere to the proper AGD specs that they were given. I can't say this for all of the other manufacturers...

That could be for the most part, but I've seen a lot of this problem cropping up with the Boomstick barrels. Maybe there was a bad batch that went through at one time.

Yeah, I agree. I've got a 10'in, and 14'in Dye Ultralight and they're both super tight. Adjusting the twist lock really made no difference.
