    Emag + LVL 10.. WTF?!

Alright, I've been fighting with this problem for a while now. automags.org, I need your help!

The emag has run great for about 1 year, the level 10 bolt has prevented most chops and the only breach breaks I think were caused by other factors than a chop. It suddenly started doing this at the field....

If I shoot slowly, on E... it shoots fine.
When I let it rip, every 3-5 shots is a chuff - like something is getting stuck in the breach.
It then shoots again for 3-5 shots fine, then chuff again. Sometimes it'll do it 2-3x.
If I let it bounce on hybrid, it seems fine.
If I fire quickly in hybrid (pianoing) it does as above (chuffing)
If I fire quickly in mechanical, it appears to be fine.

When It chuffs with paint, the paint litterally falls out of the barrel. When I'm firing quick enough to make it chuff, the valve gets quite hot, not too hot to touch though. My gas efficiency sux. 300 shots out of a 2k fill.

    Here's what I have tried....
Every carrier size, I am using the largest one that doesn't leak down the barrel. It starts to leak sometimes, but I fire it once and it stops (similar to before).
Adding and removing shims - from 0 to 3.

If anyone can think of anything, plz let me know. I have practices and a tournament comming up real soon, I need this working, less I shoot a cocker!

    thanx

Long - cut spring (1 coil)
      800PSI
Velocity unknown - Assuming 300ish (just the sound of the marker)

        Try a different tank.

        Oil your gun.

Is the paint tight in the barrel? If so, use a bigger barrel.

Different tank... okay.. why? (I have a flatline 3k, should be faster than shootdown)
          Gun is fully oiled.
There's no barrel, this is just dry firing.

crank the input pressure up to 900 & put some paintball gun grease on the on off pin.
-also if it only malfunctions in e-mode then it could be an electro problem, or solenoid plunger misalignment.

Change your bolt spring. It could be worn and weak. If it is, it won't facilitate a quick bolt return and will cause the valve to have less time to recharge before the next shot. It is a problem quite often overlooked in mags and is now cropping up in more and more mags as the level 10 setups are maturing.
Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.

So if I understand your reasoning, you feel its trying to fire again while the bolt is still on the return stroke. Makes sense. Should I cut 1x coil off the spring on my new one? I have 2 new long springs and the previous owner always maintained that you need to cut 1x coil off the end of it.

I changed to a new long spring and its still doing it... Here is an audio file of it firing. You can hear the "chuffs" between the shots...

                    Current Config.

                    2.0 carrier
                    Long new spring (not cut)
                    2x shimms
                    No barrel.

go to 1000psi input to rule out recharge. what is your velocity, chrono near 300 fps

seems to me its in electronics problem if its occuring only when you using it when your using e and hybrid modes

                            Okay..

I've rebuilt the valve, I tried to rebuild my flatline but it would appear that the previous owner stripped the allen key in the on/off so I can't pull the cam out! Anyways, I hooked it up to my Maxflow and it seems to be working at 900PSI. That is however until it decides to piss air down the barrel and refuse to fire (solenoid clicking against on/off). Pushing on the bolt does not reset it.

This is what I don't understand.. The maxflow is right up there with the fastest recharging hpa's in the world. My buddies crossfire worked great on it btw. It used to run off 650PSI on my flatline. Why all of a sudden does it insist on requiring 900PSI and chokes the second it's not getting it?!

Check your solenoid plunger. If the rod going into it from the sear has gotten bent, it could impede the firing operation of the emag. It would cause chuffing because it too slows the reseting of the sear which prevents the chamber from recharging before the next shot.
