    RT Pro Rail Questions

My main question is can I drill out the hole in the front of my RT rail, tap it, and put a VA there? I couldn't really find anything when I searched.

What is the hole located right after the gripframe screw for? It continues down into the Intelliframe.
Why is where the sear is all curvy?

You CAN drill it out and put a Vert adapter there if you wantb but you will have to remove the wings off the Vert adapter. This may cuase the VA to twist. The other hole is for the twist lock assembly so the frame will fit all mags.

Humph. I guess I'm stuck with that ugly foregrip extender thing. I don't like the idea of having to take off the wings just to find out it will turn. Oh well, thanks. *saves money for new rail*

Also, I'm still wondering why the rail is milled like an 's' where the sear is.

i think that S curve which is the grove for the sear is just made to keep the sear opperating along the same vertical plane. if the sear were to twist at all, the marker would have tolerance issues...

ps... tuna said that the wings of the CA will not allow a good seat on the rail... true, but there are no wings on the ca/foregrip that come with the RT... he means to say that cannot use the classic rail style CA on the RT rail... the only issue with the RT rail is as he said... once you attach the foregrip/CA to the rail via only 1 screw, it will have a habbit of twisting....

of course you can always drill another small hole in the rail next to the one that you'll be punching out to fit the grip on.... you'll see that there are 2 holes on the top of the CA... only one of these can be used to mount the CA on the rail with the single punched-out hole in the rail.... but you can drill a small hole next to the one in the rail... not too deep, then take a screw and thread it into the ca... screw it in tight all the way, then chop it off at about 3/16" - 1/4" (whatever is slightly less then the second hole you put in the rail.) this should make a system reminiscent of the old angel LCD and its fixing of the regulator to the bottom of the body... there was a pin to resist the twisting of the reg...

long story short... if you need more help than that, i'll try and send pics... good luck

I was going to tell you to do what CaliMagFan is telling you to do, but he got to it first.

I don't see a reason in threading in a screw into the VAA from the rail. Just use the Angel LCD idea and drill two blind holes - one in the rail and the other in the VAA. Then buy a steel dowel pin the size of the hole and cut it to length and you now have a VAA on the front of your RT-Pro that won't twist.
