xmag software upgrade?

i have a friend with a xmag its one of the first few made i think . anyway its never had a software update . i read somewhere that they could be sent to agd to be updated . do they do this ? and what do you send in ? just the grip frame or the whole gun ? i am pretty sure my friends mag has the same software that came on the first ones
