Hoppes gun oil!? Anyone else use it?

whats up guys!? lately ive been reading how the gold cup oil doesnt really do the mag justice in prolonging the service life of the oring. I went to the local Big 5 and bought "Hoppes Lubricating Oil" It says its a high viscosity and penetrating oil that is light and odorless and wont harden, gum,or turn rancid. It comes in an orange bottle and says it could be used for fishing reels, firearms and all mechanisms.Anyone else have any experience with this oil?

I use it on my Remington 870, never used it on a pb gun, I would get another opinion. Sorry for no help

I'm not too wild about high viscosity oils with paintguns. When firearms heat up, the oil will thin out some, but paintguns don't heat up the same and even cool down when using CO2. I seriously doubt it would work better than Gold Cup.

Personally, I use air tool oil.

I refuse to use gold cup. Last time i did it just totally froze up my gun. It was very very thick and gooey. I have used hoppes in the past, and has seem to work fine for me

Hoppes #9 has always been fantastic for me. I ran out though and now have a bottle of gold cup to get through. I also have a bottle of autolube that came with my mag. How's that stuff? It looks like gold cup with a different label.

I've used Hoppes on my mag and haven't had any problem. I have used it on my tippmann pro-lite since I first bought it and never have a problem with it

Hoppes is great for mags. Since mags heat up, conventional paintball oil will be hampered unlike Hoppes, which is designed for firearms but will also not damage any paintball internals.

              Good times!

thanks for the replies guys. Ive been using hoppes on my spyder TL (back up gun) for the past 5 to 6 years and the orings are still great! The only one i replaced was the hammer oring. I just wanted to see if it was any good on my minimag.

It might work for some, but I won't get it near my guns. I won't use Gold Cup (Autolube) either.

Personally I use KC Trouble Free and 100% Silicone Oil. You can get the straight silicone oil at a hobby shop. They sell it as RC Car Shock Oil and you can get it in various weights. Anything around 10wt to 20wt. is the best for paintball guns.
