    Tank hydro, Flatline reg removal?

    Hello,

I need to hydro my tank and I was wondering how to take the Flatline Reg. off! Do you need to take off all the guages and fittings and the on/off stem? I tried heating the reg in some boiling water and using vice grips to pull it off, but nothing is working so far. Any suggestions? I was thinking of trying a strap wrench next... Thanks!

NONONO! There is a SPECIAL FLATLINE REGULATOR TOOL. It is a custom designed tool and cannot be purchased. There are torque specs that MUST be adhered to when installing this reg. If your shop does not have one of these tools they cannot work on your flatline properly! Any AGD Tech would know of the tool, so make sure to send it to only one of them. Do not compromise the quality of your flatline reg by letting incompetent "techs" work on it. Email me if you need it done right the first time.

Well, I took off the guages and fittings and put 4 brass plugs in the opposing high/lo pressure holes and clamped them in a vise (so I didn't damage the regulator). I applied a strap wrench and voila! it came free with minimal torque. I think the heat from the boiling water the night before did the trick. Thanks for the advice. As for the special Flatline tool, I had never heard of that, but thank you for the advice. Are those available to the public? Thanks again...

I had to make mine. That is the only way to get one.

If you are asking how to work on a HPA tank on an internet forum, you probably should NOT be working on it yourself. Do yourself a favor and let someone qualified put it back on after it is hydroed. This is where I had mine done. I had them remove and reinstall the reg. I didn't have to remove ANYTHING. I sent them the entire "setup" minus hoses.

I took mine to a local shop and they kinda scratched it in the process. They also burned my tank a little bit, around the neck.
